No it doesn't make sense because beterbiev never fought at 160. So that comparison holds no weight. A better comparison would be Tank or Shakur moving up to fight bud at 147. I would have absolutely zero issue with either one of those fights. And they would both be competitive as hell.

Canelo going up to 2 weight classes to fight a top ranked fighter and big puncher like Kovalev ( is much more of a size differential. Charlo will not be smaller than Canelo on fight night

Steroids, growth hormone, all these things help, they helped Pacquiao jump up and still knock guys out, they helped Canelo go up and develop trunk volume and velocity strength.
But all of the above were with the help of both PED’s AND time.
Mel will have the former in some form, but not the latter.
Anybody that has boxed for years, and understands weight transfer, walk around weight, bullying weight etc gets this.
