Everyone gets shyt on here because it's funny, there doesn't have to be any actual malice towards the person to laugh at them. Lawler has been a fixture in WWE for a long time, it's only natural to have that reaction considering we basically saw it happen on live TV.
A more fitting comparison to the NY/Cena deal is the folks in the thread whose entire viewpoint on Cena got flipped because he cut a good promo and shyt on Punk.

That was one of the best back and forth promos on E television in years.

Tremendous job by all 3 of them.

People wont appreciate Cena until he is gone, that dude can bring a crowd to their feet and grab their attention good or bad. He took a Canadian crowd from shytting on him, to going wild when he took the shirt off ready to fight.

No one brings what he does to the table but him.

I really hope SF puts Detroit on blast in a blowout so I can turn my attention to this match

Get the fukk out. Cena did get booed to Bolivia during his entrance and part of his promo. Then he turned up the heat on Punk and got the crowd on his side. Punk's paint by the numbers promo had nothing to do with it.

Punk has been cutting the same promo for weeks. Stop acting like he's doing some cutting edge shyt. There's a reason Bret Hart straight ethered him during his first long winded promo. Get to the fukking point. That's one of the reasons Sheamus is floundering; talking too damn much. And he's corny to boot.

Crowd was gonna murder Cena until Punk came out dissing the Hitman. You think Cena's "I'm going to talk like I know everything because I'm the face of this business for no explicable reason" promo made the crowd turn?


This was John Cena's best promo, not because of his performance, but because of his words. Guarantee any legend in the business would've crafted that same promo into some legendary shyt. Cena though...*sigh* the only positive thing you could say about it is that "he's speaking truth right now." shyt, I wouldn't be surprised if Punk gave him some of those things to say...we all know John Boy has been completely corny in the promo department since he dropped the rapper gimmick. Now all of a sudden, we're supposed to believe he has the ability to make a crowd love him off one promo? the nikka hasn't been completely loved since PUNK MADE THE CROWD TURN ON HIM.
