Chicago radio host Steven Muehlhausen of Fight Club Chicago spoke to former WWE Creative Writer Court Bauer this week about Jerry Lawler's medical emergency on Monday's WWE RAW and whether WWE was right to continue with the show. Here's what Bauer said:

"You can always debate that, but on the flip side, if he had died obviously it's a whole new ballgame. They were in the process of trying to stabilize him and perform CPR. You had roughly about an hour left in the show. I'm sure you can coordinate with USA network to just jump into a re-run of one their programs and just be joined in progress."

"Their is a lot of pride in promoters like Dana White in that the show must go on and when you can't do that, it's like your worst case scenario and its catastrophic. In this case, I felt they did a great job in regrouping by the end. It's still so peculiar to me seeing a ten minute promo between Cena, Punk and Bret Hart. It just felt so weird and their was such a disconnect from it because real life was unfolding and there was something very real and crazy going on backstage."

"From a business point of view, yes you are living to your obligation with the USA Network, but I don't think any of that will capture anyone to buy Night of Champions. It will be a blur to people with what was said between Punk and Cena."

Show goes on. A man died in the ring and the PPV kept rolling. :yeshrug:
"The Show Must Go On" is the old circus/carny motto and pro wrestling, as grandiose as it gets, is still very much a carny-esque medium, right on down to the terminology and mindset still employed by the people that run it today.

Yeah I said in my review post that the whole thing was surprisingly good and it says a lot that they were able to create one of the most-hyped go-home promos for a PPV in awhile after what happened with King during the show.

And it does point to Punk retaining, probably through some cowardly cheat. I hate that they always have to do that, once someone turns heel suddenly they have to be weak. But really I'd prefer that Punk lose the title on Sunday so Rock and Cena can go at the Rumble and then do Rock/Punk at Mania, rather than the other way around.

So you really want to see it...you want to see Rock/Punk at Mania?
