Evolving is yalls favorite word,no matter how horrible shyt gets....is the production evolving?is the singing evolving,is the music evolving?is anything evolving for the better?if not stop using the word evolve simply to mean changing, instead of just saying its going to hell in a hand basket:mjcry:

It has to evolve otherwise it would actually die off. Would rather people do the exact same shyt that's been done before, or actually create something different.

Just because you personally don't see the big hubbub about why people like The Weeknd, Beyonce, Frank Ocean, Solange etc. doesn't mean it's not valuable. They're carrying on a tradition of OUR music as some of ya'll love to trot out so often.

And nikkas was poets back in the day,you dont have a way of beautifully saying shyt nowadays.

All you gotta be able to do is rhyme some shyt thats supposed to sound sweet and these young airheads will eat it up,you young boys got it good out there:salute:

But the music is still shytty:wtb:....also ive said it before, the men aint men no more, game full of lil boys who wont "evolve:troll:" into men, probaly til they hit 40 years old:mjlol:....even they voices is extra light and boyish to symbolize this:mjcry:

Al Green dressed like a whore still came off as more masculine then these new nikkas:mjlol:

nikka, what are you fukking 12?

Literally NOBODY ever considered those people you're talking about on the same level as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Aretha Franklin and people like that.

Just admit you're like 19 and STFU.

I was actually around back then and listened to those artists when they came out and actually do enjoy them, and will listen to R. Kelly until I die, even though White folks say I shouldn't, but that doesn't mean that he's real R&B. Dude was the harbinger of Hip-Hop soul along with Mary J. and Jodeci.

My nikka, what the fukk does white people have to do with this shyt. :what:
You're letting white people validate your r&b :laff:

My nikka you're failing to realize the evolution of R&B. R Kelly was literally dubbed the King of R&B in the mid to late 90s. His production, singing and writing solidified him.

And staying in the past is your favorite subject when it comes to music and black music.

You don't believe in shyt evolving... Ok. So the music in the 50's should still sound like the music in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's... But they DONT and never will. Accept change or stay mad waving your fists on the porch like old men as shyt pass you by because you don't think shyt is evolving for "the better"... Just like the old heads that said the same shyt about music in the 90's":yeshrug:

We know some of you don't want to relate to newer RnB music, the don't. But to say shyt is dead is:camby: especially when you never even gave it a chance or even check for new material

And people still play music these days:comeon:. You guys continuously think about mainstream music and producers when cats put out full albums with variety of instrumentalists and if a producer can't playba certain instrument he usually finds one who can.

You can see it even in J.Coles documentary where he created a beat and had his homie hop on the keys.. Thats been going on for decades even on some of these classics dropped in this thread.

If you want that oldschool band playing instruments then maybe you should check out spots in your city that plays live music and maybe support those artists because they still do exist.

So if nikkas could still sing today rnb wouldve died off?if nikkas wouldve studied how the greats made music, learned instruments, became better producers/musicians rnb couldnt have evolved that way:comeon:?

It makes no sense genres that made billions off music, cant invest in making musicians....instead they designed a shortcut to just make more money and shovel out mass garbage....they figured out a short cut and you making it out like they saved the genre by finding a shortcut:camby:

Nawl nawl nawl, not gon let u do that....guess we wouldve starved if the microwave was never invented, thank you microwave:blessed:

If not you just a nikka who has just settled for what you got, talkin like u deserve an award for accepting it:pachaha:

And i fukk with new artist so cut that out,be honest i aint missing that much if i did decide to let this shyt pass me by....i think ill wait for the next "evolution" it will only get better right:troll:?

there was a lot more balance back then breh. for every r kelly we had 112, boys 2 men, joe, carl thomas etc.

But there is balance now, many people are just lazy and don't want to check for new music. They only rely on what the radio gives them. Those people are essentially sheep. They usually have the same argument for hip hop

I love most music nowadays, probably more than at any other point in my life tbh, but R&B is the exception to that. I think most r&b sucks right now, and it's purely because most artists are mediocre singers with mediocre production behind them. There are some exceptions, I think Beyonce is a fantastic singer and she and her sister released an amazing album, and a lot of great singers have come out of the UK the past few years, but most other artists I've listened to have left me unimpressed.

You really know nothing of the creative process in regards to music so you need to chill out fam, your showing your ignorance.

There have been monumental R&B albums since the beginning of the millennium and resorting to nostalgia as a barrier actually stifles creativity .

Which is actually a good thing musicians don't rely on people like you in the first place.

#4 is bullshyt when the 90s Slowjams/Classic RnB boom came off the back of songs that were either all the way about love, or straight up about the fukking of a lifetime.

Much like today's RnB scene. You either gotta be grimy with it like The Weeknd, or write what constitutes as a love song/borderline simp.
