Nobody wants to say it, but the way the storyline has been handled since the breakup has been average. The crowd doesn’t care to Mariah; they’re still behind Toni.
They shoulda waited until this recent Dynamite to turn May heel. The last few weeks have exposed her mehness.

It needed to read like it was obvious that Mariah was going to think she 'outgrew' Toni. But that never happened. So the whole time, it's feeling like there's a shoe waiting to drop. When Mariah shows some character. When she shows that she exists outside of Toni's shadow - that even despite turning on her - she's still existing entirely inside of.
this whole thing has honestly been Toni Storm carrying two spots by herself.
Before, Mariah was cosplaying Toni's old gimmick and that was her whole personality. Meaning, the old two-tone shorts rocker Toni gimmick was still on AEW TV even while Timeless was.
Now, Mariah's still just playing Toni
A Mariah May world title run would be abominable. But we kinda need it to happen just to see who she ends up being away from Toni's shadow. Otherwise ol girl will never sink or swim. She'll just... be?

Mariah May would fit right in with the divas era of wrestling. In today’s era she’s average at best. I’d rather watch Deonna wrestle than her and I don’t care for Deonna either. Is Mariah likely to hold the belt for long? Guess it depends how she does. I could see Toni taking a short break if she loses. Maybe until GS if not WD. Come back as not a new character but just different type of movie role.
