The Traps of Unified Korea
Still very comfortable not watching another Jay White match until 1/4 where I'll be watching everything. He was head and shoulders above everything he'd done in the company in this G1 and still meh. That being said though he'll probably go back to working 10-15 minute things this fall. The big issue with his career is he went from short young boy matches to big NJ forced epics in about a year and has struggled mightily to fill that time with meaningful content. He made leaps this G1 and with another year of plugging away might actually have the ability to fill the 25-30mins he's asked to.

Glad SHINGO got to showcase the level he's been operating at for almost 15 years. Basically all of the best singles match performances in Dragon Gate since he became a star there are his. Dude is fukking incredible and got to flex this tournament.

Now of course he and Ishii will wrestle each other 35 times over the next year :russ:

Kota is hilarious. For years now he's shown the ability to turn the fukkery off and on like a switch. He can go 20mins of high spots and dumb shyt or work a compelling, grinding struggle. It's the other level Kenny never has, and it's just funny that that's the side Kota leans into now Kenny is gone and he's getting a major push.

Tana really sniped at Kenny's whole schtick by making legit criticisms of his entire style of working to the media and now, Naito matches aside, Kota has spent a year working more like his two "gods". Very clever shyt.

KENTA in the BC feels like the biggest kick in the roster in forever. Maybe third since AJ joined the BC and Naka stole CHAOS.

:damn: Shibata coming back shooting, no questions asked. Almost shed a damn tear:mjcry:

Ibushi and Jay white :whew: damn good match. I really like that Ibushi has toned it down a lot since the ankle injury. I’d like this change to be permanent. Except against Naito, one of them has to break their neck:birdman:

Not a huge Jay White fan but it allowed the entire place to be pulling for Ibushi so he did his job :yeshrug:

While we're talking about Jay White, what does Gedo see in him that he doesn't see in Toa or Juice? All three went through the Dojo and speak perfect English.

Sidenote: Would TSC be behind 2013 Okada coming back and winning the belt on his first try?

Someone on Wreddit brought up a good point. Tanahashi's refusal to give KENTA daps probably planted the seeds in him joining the Bullet Club.

I think the main thing Gedo sees in Jay White is that he can keep up with Okada's 75 step finishing sequences, but is also a white guy.

Not trolling with this... Juice isn't white?

From what I saw, that wasn't that much tbf, the best match was Naito vs Shingo.

Ishii vs Shingo was fukking awesome but I wouldn't put it above other awesome hoss battles that you can find in Z1, AJPW and BJW.
