I know I am a fool to expect any different at this point but Okada getting caught in eight Dragon Screws, a middle rope Dragon Screw and an inverted Dragon Screw, only to hit a sequence of two high jump drop kicks and a tombstone without selling the knee (that he actually bothered to sell until that sequence) got me mad as fukk.:francis:

That’s typical Okada for you. :mjlol:

It’s the fighting spirit. :troll:

Even though aesthetically the place looked empty as fukk, the crowd was into everything and it sounded great. Nothing too extraordinary in sense of the match quality but definitely a good show overall.

Leg work should be banned for big matches in any promotion to be honest. Wrestlers just can't seem to figure out a way for selling it properly when it comes to the finish sequence. It's across the board too, even a guy like Daniel Bryan - who cares about this shyt - shrugged it off like nothing in one of his matches with AJ (another guy who cares about this kind of shyt).

I think the last guy I saw do a good enough job with it was Takuya Nomura, and dude still used his leg...but at least he sold it like it hurt him like hell to kick someone.

The comments on that second tweet are a bloodbath. People on reddit are legit HEATED about this, as well :laff:

:dead:@ ZSJ using the English language to fukk up innocent bystanders like MiSu taking chairs to young lions after a loss.

Now that he's got a reaction - he's going to get much worse too :mjlol:

There has to be a happy medium between doing your moves and grabbing your knee after and being unable to walk the rest of the match.

Like everyone said Ospreay and Selling is :mjlol:
Thank Gawd, Archer was willing to sell his offense. Ospreay and ZSJ will be a clusterfukk.

It was basic Okada/Tana but it still works. Tana/Okada is the only main event I can think NJPW can run without a gaijin. It was great.
Kenta is :flabbynsick: but we at least we saw glimpses of dikkhead Kenta.
SANADA/ZSJ wasn't alright but the stalling midmatch was weird. Of course, ZSJ being a c*nt and playing off the crowd was a part of the reason.
EVIL/Fale was :russell:

Ishii da Gawd blessing us with piff in a tag match with Young Lions. That's my Stone Pitbull. :wow: Narita and Shota will be stars.

Agreed but after what, 3-4 years of the same bullshyt I'm convinced that leg selling is just impossible in modern wrestling. Not because it literally can't be done, but because wrestlers just don't seem to care about finding a way of reaching that happy medium.

Meji better get his shyt together, there was no reason this show couldn't have done at least 8k, specially in the summer in the US. This did worse than the Cow Palace show, which got a last minute boost from Omega vs Cody being announced.

Genuine question, what numbers do most of their non-WK shows do? I looked up that Korakeun only holds 1,800 people which surprises me, seems like a bigger place on TV.

Depends on the venue and the show tbh. They book different sized buildings depending on the town they are out.

In Tokyo the are able to sell out Sumo Hall consistently, which depending on the set up, can hold from 7k to 11k people. New Japan normally runs a 9k set up and usually sells it out.

Last year they also started to run Budokan Hall again (after more than a decade), which I'm not sure how many people it can held at this point. 6 years ago it could still have 16k but last year for the G-1 Finals they had that placed packed for 2 of the 3 days and they did 12,000 each day.

In Osaka the currently run 2 big buildings. One with 16k capacity, which they set up for 11k and have sold it out each time they've used it and another one with 6-7k which they also usually sell out.

For places like Aichi, Fukuoka and Kobe they do 4-7k depending on the building (also sell outs).

When I heard Meltzer say they drew 4000 paid...:picard:

6000 or so would have been more than adequate, but 4000 paid and 4846 in the crowd is just awful given how important the G1 is. I don't remember who in this thread compared the crowd to the Walter Pyramid show in Long Beach, but I scoffed at it only for them to do a very similar number in the fukking AAC.

shyt is embarrassing.

Everyone wants to run everywhere for the finish instead of finding more creative ways to get to the end of a match. I have half a mind to say it's certain aspects of WWE-style infecting the rest of the wrestling landscape, but I'd have to think about it more before I outright make that claim.

I think it's more 80% of WWE guys are indie guys and brought that with them from ROH/PWG.

It's very common in Japan too though, and that comes from the Tanahashi formula from 9 years ago or so. A guy like Miyahara, who clearly idolizes Tana, pretty much said fukk selling anything that isn't neck work or exhaustion and let me get this flashy and dope finishing sequence :pachaha:

This is why I think that one Roman match against Braun where his shoulder was fukked and he literally didn't use his arm the entire match, got into all of his spots differently, did all his spots differently, sold it from entrance to exit, is one of the GOAT performances of the past decade.

I agree, that feud with Braun had Roman doing some awesome comebacks that incorporated awesome selling while at the same time making him look like superman.

It's a shame that we have to call this a best of the decade performance. shyt like that should be the standard, not the vast exception.
