I got that. About halfway through it, It's cool but dude is annoying with all his god talk.

I mean...it's written from a Christian perspective. Of course he's going to discuss his faith.

There's actually a lot of sound financial principles that are derived from Biblical scripture. Quite enlightening.

:ehh:

Yeah but he overdoes it to the point where it gets annoying.

I guess. What one considers as patriotism another would think it's nationalism. What one considers being proud another would think ego.

:ld:

The book's a best seller and it seems like the advice is solid, irrespective of faith.

I'm looking forward to it.

Faith ain't gonna help nobody get out of debt or become financially free though :yeshrug:

Rich Dad, Poor Dad is a better read imo

Agreed, faith is cool if that's the spiritual crutch one needs to keep themselves from succumbing to stress and mental health deterioration due to debt or financial struggles but at the end of the day, a pragmatic approach and heuristic techniques applied in finance is what actually helps.

Real-world solutions are quantifiable, in addition to being understood and applied by those who are financially literate.

Rich Dad Poor Dad, was definitely a solid read and informative. I can't speak on the other book because I've never read it, but RDPD offered practical advice that promoted results-based personal finance.

I think what Dave Ramsey is actually getting at is that even within the Christian faith there are instructions for people to live financial prudent lives straight from the Bible.

Save money, invest your talents (resources) but do not let money make you.

He isn't saying people can just pray their way out of bad financial situations. You gotta supplement it with actual work.

Good thing I got both :whew:
Have either of you played the Cashflow game yet? You can... acquire it if you look around hard enough :smugfavre:. It's a good way to put those principles into practice in a safe environment although the real estate prices aren't necessarily representative of your area. It's a fun way to spend 20-30 minutes once you understand how to win.

Even if you go out and purchase it I think it's worth it. It decreases most of the trepidation you might feel in buying real estate in the real world. I mean even now I'm periodically looking at potential investment properties on Zillow and getting mentally prepared. I might not be able to afford it right now or even where I live now but when I get closer to that stage I'll be somewhat ready :ehh:.

I've gotten so good at Cashflow 101 that I actually force myself to wait until the CPU gets out of the rat race before I make moves to get out. It's almost addictive to see how much passive income you can generate in that timespan. In Cashflow 202 it's a little harder but I've developed strategies that hurt me in the short term but pay off nicely in the long run. I don't always win the game but I find it a personal victory to just make it out of the rat face - and for me that's the most important learning experience.

Word? I actually never checked the website. Things may have changed, I just remember there being a board game and a computer game based on it. At any rate, as long as you read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and receive the message I think you'll be good. It can't be a lot of other 25 year olds thinking seriously about financial security and planning to make it happen. My parents haven't even thought about the end goal yet :mjcry:. I'm just hoping I can get to a point where I can support them when it's necessary when that time comes.

Man it's not a lot of people period thinking seriously about financial security and planning.

I need to focus on getting my creativity back & creating multiple streams of income.

Would love to be able to setup an Amazon, Ebay, Etsy type of shop
