Had an interview yesterday for an IT Engineer position. Already have the next round scheduled.

My retention bonus hit today, found out they let a bunch of people go same day. The other side of the business they are suppose to be growing is not growing so no reqs open. Another one coming in Feb. I don't plan on waiting until then . After that, they wont need me much since client contracts are done.

On the flip side, I just had a long ass conversation with my girl about not spending quality time. Like wtf? this really got under my skin. Like I got sheet I am putting together, like do your own shyt in the mean time. Unfortunately, she is not built like that. I am spending most of my time labbing up, I dont give a shyt about dates, brunch and all that other B.S women seem to care about .

On the flip side, I just had a long ass conversation with my girl about not spending quality time. Like wtf? this really got under my skin. Like I got sheet I am putting together, like do your own shyt in the mean time. Unfortunately, she is not built like that. I am spending most of my time labbing up, I dont give a shyt about dates, brunch and all that other B.S women seem to care about .

Most of this so called "quiet quitting" is just enforcing a healthy work life balance. fukk I look like answering calls and messages after the work day is over? Somebody's bytch, that's what. Up until recently I was paid below market (still am in many respects) so I had less incentive to be at somebody's beck and call. Now I'm just jaded enough to know better.

They talked about employees not wanting to go above and beyond. If there's no reason to, why do it? I did 3 years in the top performance rating, putting out work that out the seniors to shame, and I barely got raises beyond what everyone else got. They need to start asking themselves what makes an employee want to do exceptional work, and how do they continue to provide that so that they will.

this is just another way for employers to squeeze every ounce of work out of employees without paying. I have no issue with people doing what is expected of them and no more. When companies are ready to cut people without notice all that “above and beyond” means nothing. Employees are starting to realize this shyt is BS and the days of working for a company for 30 years like our boomer parents is over. fukk em.

you want me to go above and beyond? Then you need to figure out what will make me do that (money, no Micro managing, security, appreciation, vacation, etc). having a ping pong table or food in the kitchen isn’t going to work.

They said this topic of job phising is most common in IT.

Not really surprised this is happening. I mean we've all seen the job requirement / qualification for some position.

Don't you eat everyday? Yall can't grab breakfast, lunch or dinner at some point in the week...outside of the house? Doesn't have to be anything elaborate, just a quick meal.

Perhaps you can make some flashcards and ask her to help you study. Integrate her into some of your studying (if she doesn't mind). If she's into parties, couples dates, brunches, etc, dedicate a weekday/end a month and get it all in, at least it's expected and you can plan around it. You could add in a compromise of building in a block of study time, say if you go away for a weekend.

Don't let education or work completely get in the way of nurturing any of your relationships. It's understandable not putting in as much time, but falling back altogether, isn't good, imo. The sooner you maintain a balance between upgrading yourself and managing relationships, the more enthusiastic you remain about becoming a better individual.

One of the things I learned early on in college is that if you’re not cheating you’re not doing it right.

I saw Indian and Asians cheating in all the stem classes.

They legit would have previous exams(some professors just provide them now) but all old assignments as well passed down.

Meanwhile if you’re a black person you’re odd man / woman left out.

I also learned the key is to do w/e it takes get ahead, but be competent enough to learn as much as you go along.

I also learned the key is to do w/e it takes get ahead, but be competent enough to learn as much as you go along.

That's probably why I walk circles around colleagues now, I succeed or fail on merit . So on merit I'm about to put in the time to get good at this algorithm shyt and stop leaving my fate in their hands.
