Being unemployed is really boring.

I have an interview tomorrow and another one next week Thursday. They're both with people based in Europe. I should've opened up my availability more so that the 2nd one could've been scheduled sooner, but I didn't like the idea of having an interview at 8 AM.

There was a third place I was interviewing with, but the salary was terrible, so I ended it.

I'm approaching burnout but I think more is about to be asked of me at work. Which is fine, but something else gotta shake in my life.

I think we need an Au-Pair, but that's not happening.

Recruiter offered me $100K annual salary and 3 weeks vacation, but still wanted me in the office 3 times a week

Plus I already get 5 weeks vacation with my current gig

MBA consulting season heating up. Let the rat race begin. McKinsey got a 70 minute digital assessment to complete before you even get a call to interview. BCG got a two online superday next week. 35 minute case plus video. This is weed out stage and I'm already tired.

I don't really want to go to either firm but you gotta try anyway. If I made it in I'd have even less of a life than I have now but I'd probably start at $190K base.

the UK (and the others) do not have the same equal op employment laws so filtering to maximise chance of placement is the norm.
not that should infliuence your behaviour or that you should do the following but a simple test would be to say that you can only do a phone call.
in the UK we know how to be superficially polite and professional but honesty and directness are in short supply.

Yeah but when you have an internship or FT offer locked up by Oct and all your classmates are still scrambling and stressed out

Childless women, single/not dating, or those that just don't like give a shyt about their families, make THE worst managers. Find something else to love other than your job and getting on my nerves. I've never missed a white man in my life, but my professional heart yearns for my old manager.

This will be a situation where I put in my 2 weeks and notify them at the end of that two weeks that I'm leaving. On my last day, I'll travel to DC, send my quitting email from the lobby, and hand all the equipment over. That's what happened in my dream anyway. I took the Amtrak from Baltimore. I really dreamed in detail about leaving a job

This is maturity. Usually I dream about fukking shyt up or going postal.

Damn, there's a comment to be made here, but I don't want to bring that TLR energy in here.

It's a lot of moving pieces, but I feel the issues started when my old manager left.

Leadershyt wants all these fancy dashboards or in depth analytics, but they have poor data and no clear direction. So as a BI developer, I end up working on shyt that goes no where or only for an audience of two people.

Back to my old manager, he was a technical person, so he would fight back on some of these projects...basically making the business provide clearer requirements. My new manager, Indian woman, let these fools tell her whatever and she brings it back to us.

The latest project I loathe is one where we, the development team are supposed to create correlation between sets of unrelated data, model the data, build a dashboard and demo it. On some "show leadership what we are capable of". I don't agree with that at all because if ever they decide to truly correlate the data, the work done is useless.

You can’t build good skills with bullshyt tasks. The money is in the skills. I’m also old and my time is valuable, so I can’t waste hours a day doing tasks that are of no value overall.
