This popped up on my LinkedIn feed today, some useful info about pay transparency:
#1 - California's pay transparency + public pay reporting bill SB 1162.
Public pay reporting for employers with 250+ employees soon-ish? Yikes, but yup, likely!
Pay ranges on all job postings as early as January 1st for the 5th largest economy in the world. Yup!
Contractor pay reporting? Sounds like this is coming soon.
This one is likely to have a busy month. After a quick stay on the suspense file sidelines, it was already assigned a date to head back to the Appropriations committee for a full vote.
So, Appropriations hearing: August 11th. Must be voted out of Assembly by August 31st. Signature/veto by Governor by September 30th.
We'll be watching this one like a hawk.
#2 - NYC pay transparency bill.
The NYC bill that will require employers to post the salary range on all job postings goes into effect on November 1st.
#3 - New York State pay transparency bill
S9427 is sitting on the Governor's desk and waiting for signature.
Like the NYC law, this will require employers to post the minimum and maximum annual salary or hourly range offered for new hires, transfers, and promotions.
There is an added twist. Employers also have to disclose the job description.
