Company pushed a BIOS update to me that decided to start when I opened my laptop, and now it's hung

The salary discussion threads are just jokes to me because most folks are applying anecdotal evidence to every situation. I'm actually approving pay offers and advising recruiters on what they can and can't offer, as part of my day to day job. I have the actual pay data from tech companies (some caveats in there), but TLR folks be talking wild.
I just read and try not to say too much
What you got on my rep?I feel bad rejecting people, but everyone can't be a "yes"

The only goals I have is how to get and keep this bytch off my back. I have woke up determined not to be micromanaged any longer, but struggling to communicate that professionally. Let's develop some protocol around what you expect from me as your employee and give me the bandwidth to exercise the protocol.
This meet me to death shyt ain't it, especially when I meet with your multiple times a week.
why don't you call the meetings on your own schedule. preempt her schedule. then slow it down while keeping her as informed as before.
manage her back a bit. and to be on the safe side keep smiling and never show that any of this bothers you.
Because it's not necessary to meet any more than we already do about the projects I'm working on.
Out of 5 working days, she has more than enough ability to discuss existing projects without putting any additional time on the calendar. That's micromanagement. I still need time to complete work and I shouldn't be forced to work outside of business hours to accomplish tasks because someone wants to meet me to death.
- I meet weekly with the stakeholder(s), her, and other team members involved, for my individual projects (So if it's 3 projects, 3 separate meetings a week).
- The team meets every other week to discuss all our projects. It's a round robin style set-up.
- Her and I meet individually every other week to discuss all my projects
- She requires weekly updates on all projects through a status report
I'm not going to adopt to a poor style of management by inconveniencing myself, but I can ask her to clearly communicate her level of expected output, so that I can make changes/improvements where necessary.
by commandeering the schedule you get control and she gets what she wants, information.
that's the long game.
management is a two way street. i managed my (ex-)manager into letting me work from home and then letting me work from another country for years by giving him what he wanted, which as trust built meant in the end I could do what I wanted to do. no questions asked.
but what do i know
maybe emotion and confrontation are the best ways for everyone to get what they actually want.
Any additional meetings outside of what's scheduled would be an inconvenience to me. I'm not looking for control or to play games, only do my job at or better than expected. What I'm asking is to have those expectations clearly communicated to me without having cajole them out of her. Once they are communicated, she will have to trust I will execute and provide a favorable output.
Now, if after the expectations have been communicated and I'm still not up to par that's something else. I agree the relationship between manager and the person being managed, is a two way street, but I disagree about everything else I'm an adult, I ask for things directly and usually directness has been to my favor, including changes in work schedule.
Discussion and confrontation are two different things. Again, we disagree on a lot of this and that's ok. I appreciate your input.

So, I am going to lie on my resume lol. Out of college, I was part of this development program. I did no cyber security hands on work...BUT they did pay for me to go to school. I am going to add cyber security trainee as a work role and add a lot of tier 1 stuff that you do in the soc such as initial triage, analyzing logs, following knowledge base documents, performing ride alongs with different cyber security teams. Although I am passed that point, think it will had more flavor to my resume.
as much as i think roe vs wade being rescinded is terrible, one thing thats been making me shake my head is the increasing amount of very personal stories ppl are sharing regarding abortion..on linkedin ..like thats not what i want to see on linkedin...at all
