when i was a BA for my last job, i was in charge of the development of the web portal they used as well as functionality that connected to its website - my days revolved around meetings getting requirements for new programs to build out in the web portal or revisions from the client base plus daily maintenance. i think that sums it up

Yo has me on a whole dummy mission. "All you have to do is match the numbers on the dashboard to what's in SQL server". The data in the dashboard is coming from pre-done code that I can't see and don't have access to. I'm feeling insecure because he keeps making it seem easy, but when you don't have understanding of the data you're trying to match up...shyt stressing me tf out!!

Finally got access to Jira and my own board. Dude had a couple issues in the backlog and I started setting up my sprints. Being able to organize and having some dedicated tasks is everything. These mfs love to meet though and like right away...if you have a free 10 mins they wanna be all in your zoom using it to share some shyt. "Let me just share my screen" head ass.

I receive my first pay of the year tomorrow and it's going to determine how much more money I should have asked for. I signed up for everything available, that pre and post tax deduction amount a fool. But I can really start forecasting out my budget because my net should be the same for the most part.

How can you get into contracting on the business side? I'm currently in the military and I'm working on my PM cert but looking for post-military opportunities and contracting opened my curiosity.

You should start here Small Business Administration

I'm not an expert, I just happened to land a DoD contract, in army contracting doing business analyst work. That's when I learned how much my company was awarded to do the work vs how much I was getting paid. I know the firm I worked for was designated a 8(a), but they have other categories like minority or veteran owned.

Once you obtain these designations, you can then bid on contracts. My contract work was on a military base and when I attended a job fair there, a rep from the small business administration said whenever I'm ready to just give them a call and they walk you through step by step. I just haven't been ready to make the move yet.

I prefer the impromptu meetings, but only if they message me and ask. There's been a few times where MFs will just call me out of the blue and expect my participation. I don't mind helping people - shyt I'd even go so far as to say I enjoy helping people - but you gotta ask for it first. What I hate is when people schedule meetings with like 15 people on the call, but there are only like 3 interested parties. My PM does that, just loves to schedule meetings for the sake of having them.
