I get these SRE roles sent to me but having done those roles I realize how stressful they are. I'm cool with the role I'm in now but I know I can't stay in it forever.

With that said my direct management has been good to me and I have been working for another promotion next year. Still I should eye Solutions Architect and/or Management roles in the future.

A little under 3 months till RTO.

I knocked out a good number of my more immediate, short term goals. Progress to some of my more medium term to long term has been fuzzy.

On one hand I don’t think I factored in the speed at which things reopened and increased the opportunity cost of me staying in and knocking out some goals. On the other hand, I think there’s an element of cabin fever/burnout on my end.

Need to regroup and keep pushing though.

So got an email regarding ppl in my dept getting a bonus and merit increase

First bonus at this job..while it's not the 5 figure ones I used to get at my last job. It's still a nice fairly high 4 digit amount. The merit increase is almost 4% which is whassup. Bonus gets paid out on my next paycheck. Merit increase kicks in first paycheck in July. I'm going to need to treat myself to something.

MD UI playing but I talked to someone and I should be getting my retroactive plus current pay. I have other monies owed to me as well. If I get the payments before end of the month, I’m registering to get both my PMP and Qlik certs.

I’ve been reviewing and talking about it but I’m just gonna pull the plug. With the school year about to end I don’t have to worry about adding another thing to my plate. I have a shyt ton of resources. Ready to get it over with.

Mandatory overtime should be illegal :mjcry: and they wondering why a lot of ppl are giving two week notice.

My coworker got a promotion about a year ago. Today they restructured the org chart so that I report to her.

She works in a different state, so I'm concerned that I'm not going to be able to connect with her as easily for deliverables, but OTOH, if she is WFH permanently, I think that it will be easier for me to lobby for permanent WFH when the company 'encourages' us to go back to 2-3 days a week in September. I highly doubt she will be as hands on as my current boss also which is concerning but I'll cross that bridge when we get there. Worst come to worst, I'll quite like I was intending on doing pre-Covid ‍♂️

-Should have taken my mentor’s advice and take the GMAT back in uni, mentally drained and not hitting the score I have in mind :francis:. May just cancel my test date for this year and make it a priority next year. I do feel some type of way since the pandemic was the perfect time to knock it out...

-RTO in T-90days. I need to get serious about this cross country move. Heading out next month to start looking at apartments and actually meet my manager face to face for the first time in 9 months:russ:

-I’ll say this again. I really wish I could have onboarded in person for 3-4 months before doing the WFH thing. As I get more and more into this role I’m realizing I’m just better suited for Strategy/Biz Dev not super crazy data analytics. I have the chops for DA, but I feel I’d “shine” more in a more 30,000 FT view type role.

But I knew this going in. This role was a stepping stone into the Fintech/Digital Payments niche. Company is global so I’m still on track to pivot to SSA (Sub Sahran Africa) in a few years.
