Spoke with the Qlik salesperson today and I'm glad I did. They way I was thinking of modeling the business isn't going to work, but it's ok I have another plan. The small business product is only $360/year, which isn't bad at all. I received a call from a recruiter from Booz Allen and they have a bunch of Qlik projects in their pipeline. The woman said they would sponsor a secret clearance, which would be legit.

I feel I'm always going in 20 different directions, so I'm just going to focus solely on this Qlik path for the year and see what happens. The certifications are only $250 a piece (I want the data architect and administrator). The certs and a secret clearance can open up some nice opportunities, although a few years down the line. I also want to get to the point to bid on government contracts. Nothing is for certain, but at least there is a plan.

Found out my boss lied about a role being outsourced and gave it to someone else. I didn't respect her before, but I really don't now. She herself had been promoted to Executive Director despite causing our vertical to be in chaos throughout the last fiscal year.

For 2021 I plan on doing at least 2 informational interviews a month to keep on my toes.

For one, I like being in “interviewing” mode. It keeps me sharp and on my feet. I also enjoy the networking aspect of things.

I’m only 4 months into this role but I’m already looking towards the next move in the next 14-20 months lol.

Question...

Thinking about getting a new vehicle and Capital One offered me a $20,000 loan with 2.67% APR. I have an 807 credit score. Do y'all that's a good APR rate or do you think I can get something lower?

Navy Fed advertising as low as 1.79%, I would definitely shop around. With your score you can do better.

I gotta get back on investing in the market and start building that account back up. Had to liquidate all my funds a couple of years ago to get some quick emergency cash :snoop:, but since my finances are back in order, I can slowly get back in the game.

Sidenote: my pops keeps sending me his 401K statements that shows he’s over $1million, that nicca is happy as fukk to be a millionaire, too bad my mom won’t let him splurge on anything :russ:

This is why I like Dave Ramsey’s approach of having your emergency fund in liquid cash and not in the stock market.

Nothing worse than having to liquidate your brokerage/401k for a small time emergency.

Doesn’t have to a huge amount but having even 2 months worth of expenses is better than nothing.

I have a raise coming off the back of this new position. If I've been running the numbers right, I might be able to get this car loan paid off in about 15 more months, taking a little over 2 years off the original term. I'll still be saving more than my floor amount, still contributing to my 401k, and by the time everything else is paid for, there will still be some spending money for whatever arises throughout the month. Of course, the extra amount I plan on paying will eat heavily into being able to save and invest, but I think it'll be better to get this done and dusted and then I can refocus my finances.

I'm waiting to see if HR is going to follow through with what they said about normalizing salaries because I'll be 8% below the minimum they should be paying me. So if I get that, then this plan becomes that much more comfortable. Plus I have a bonus from getting the top performance rating coming. Depending on how much is left over after I get got by taxes, I might put a sizeable chunk on the loan.
