Am i ever really gonna want to go back to an office?

All i really need is LA weather so i could go outside year round and id be set
I was looking for 80-100% remote roles before COVID. Commuting is a waste of time and coworkers are terrible people lol If I never have to use a public restroom during work hours, it will be too soon.

OK so I just looked into this group on Blacks in Technology group and I've noticed a number of cacs who are a part of it.

Of course I'm not a founder of the group and whatever rules they have are not up to me, but personally I wouldn't even think to join a group for any other races because we all know nobody wants us to be a part of their stuff when it's made for them exclusively, plus I don't see how it would benefit me in any way. I don't think as a black person I'd even be welcome.

I'm just wondering if at the very least, these cacs are opening doors for black professionals or they're just in the group to be in our business, because I don't know why a cac would look at a black group whose objective states....

Blacks In Technology is a professional platform for BLACK people in technology. BIT serves to increase the representation and participation of Black people in tech through community, media, mentorship, and stewardship. Blacks In Technology (BIT) is "Stomping the Divide" by establishing a blueprint of world class technical excellence and innovation by providing resources, guidance and issuing a challenge to our members to surpass the high mark and establish new standards of global innovation.

....
and want to be a part of it. It's like when we establish something, we have to include everybody else.

It would just be nice to have something for ourselves. I'm not saying this to talk down on the group, but I just can't help but feel some type of way. :francis:

just had my weekly 1-2-1 my boss is asking if I want to switch team permanently :patrice:im in two minds. The other team does less work for same pay but if i switch i would need 3-4 months to probably learn everything and also career wise its nothing i want to do because its a pretty crappy job. Even though the current job I have is crappy too I at least am pretty confident day to day so any downtime I have I use it to work on my own business.

Yeah, I wouldn’t trade downtime unless it’s more money and something I really wanted to do. Running you ragged where you can’t focus on your own projects :camby:

Bruh, where the fukk the apprentice jobs at? I’m a trash test taker but I’m great at learning on the job. Everything out there either requires a cert or at least a few years experience. Man fukk that shyt, I got top notch soft skills they need to get one of these weirdo tech geeks to just get me out the way on some work study shyt. fukk.

Tech might not be for you if you don't have the aptitude to teach yourself, get a cert, or degree.

You could look into project management and product roles. They lean more towards soft skills. Depending on the company you'll still need to know some tech stuff.

Software sales I hear make good money too.

Its weird because I don’t have problems being an autodidact but frankly speaking it only works when I’m super interested. I was interested enough to take courses for two years and I retained a decent amount of the info. I went from A+ all the way to CEH so to say the least I’ve at least dabbled in some shyt. IT is fascinating to me, but not like say geopolitics, languages, or world history. I’ve just always been really bad at test taking so my Achilles heel is being exposed.

I’m really trying to not let it discourage me so I’ve been reaching out to friends and fam to help me study at least. I want to finally get into the field by January. Honestly tho, I’m really NOT a tech person at heart. It’s an interesting field, but I enjoy writing and want to be an author and other things to do with writing. But shyt is fukked up out here so I had to be practical and go for a career that could at least offer some lifestyle flexibility so I can pursue artistic endeavors.

Lol yea you sound like a people person.

You can also look at being a technical recruiter. It's ways to be in the tech industry without actually being all the way technical. Everyone that works at the company gets all the same benefits maybe minus bonuses and stock options. It's recruiters out there that will be working from home forever thanks to this pandemic.

Yeah I’m great with people, I can work alone too but that’s usually after I’m comfortable with what I’m doing.

You giving me some good ideas tho. I can at least start with the school I went to then check other shyt in the DMV. Being a recruiter is actually an interesting thought. If nothing else, I’d do that until I actually got some certs under my belt. I’m sitting here doing A+ practice exams like :francis:, I just wanna hit fast forward on this shyt. I ain’t tryna cheat but goddamn now I see why people do it :ld:

My boss had a 1 on 1 with me three weeks ago and told me I would be backing up some dude in another discipline. After the Zoom call I bust out laughing. He really thinks I'm about to do two different jobs for the same salary.
:rudy:

I'm outta this bytch the first chance I get. Already got interviews lined up like crazy.
