Had a good conversation with dude yesterday. A start up company that sells an employee retention analytics product to their customers, only healthcare companies at this point, but looking to expand. The title was Director of Business Intelligence, but referred to it as "mid-range" for the skill set. :mjlol:. These job titles are another rant altogether. It was good to learn about the company and he didn't have any stuffy interview questions, just wanted to dig into my background and was asking a lot of follow up questions; I felt it was engaging, but he said he was just having conversations. :francis: I read the reviews about the company and the interview and hiring process and most of them were negative. People claimed to have been left hanging about the role, but based on my convo, nothing seemed solidified. He told me I should follow up with him :russ:
dont fall for the bullshyt job titles yes they matter but they need to actual match with the job description if they dont match or the interviewer is juelzing about what the job actually entails then 99% the job title is just made up of buzzwords and your actual work will have nothing to do with the job title i fell for it for my current job.

sounds like you should be avoiding the company tbh

I’m not going to follow up with them, but if they reach back out, I would see what’s up. The salary is already in my range and I like the work they are doing with their analytics. I treat everything like a project so I can add it to my portfolio Ive been building. Not looking for “forever”, just trying to do some cool stuff with data.

Hows the job hunt going?
Did a couple of phone screens and got ghosted lol. Haven't looked in a while, although I did apply to another role at my company. We'll see how that goes but I'm not sure I would take it if they offered me.

Get a Steelcase or Hermon Miller. The site below can take a bit based on inventory, but they are pretty cheap.

Madison Seating - Office Chairs and Home Furniture

Ordered a steelcase leap and my chair got here today. Sitting in it now and feels great :myman:

Are they legit? I was thinking about them but it seems like too good to be true pricing.

Spent $275 on mine, wheels look they have a small amount of wear/tear :yeshrug: everything else in very good/new condition.

I've been seeing a lot of Qlik related roles. I'm about to use this Udemy class I purchased a while ago to brush up on some stuff. The last interview I had, I wasn't able to speak as well about my knowledge and experience with the software, so I want to make sure I have those technical terms down pat. A recruiter hit me up Saturday saying a role was coming out this week and if I was interested. I started to say no because I've had a poor interview experience with them in the past; One interview I just blew due to nerves, one I was ghosted and the last one dude had his kids and dogs in the background, having a good ass time. "Daddy's on the phone, guys" :martin:. I told her keep me in mind, maybe the 4th time is the charm.

Over the summer I got a nice routine going with tracking my efficiency using Pomodoros for time management. It fell by the wayside these last few months though and so I am getting back on the horse today. So far I'm struggling to work for 25 minutes straight which shows how my focus deteriorated when I stopped tracking it. It's like the saying goes... If you want to improve something, measure it.

so informally it looks like ill be working from home through 6/30 now..originally it was possibly january

well it looks like ill be doing some longer term planning then
We were aiming for January as well but it has been extended to the end of March for now.

You know, I had the good fortune to not have to spend a lot of the time on calls working with white people for a long time. The one that I did work closely with was competent and we made a hell of a team. Unfortunately he's gone. Now I'm working with these white folks more and more, and even though I knew it, their level of incompetence relative to their years of experience is astounding. They can comfortably coast through life being less than mediocre and often excel. I've had the same conversations with this woman like 10 times over the past 6-9 months trying to get her to learn what's going on, yet I still get questioned ok how to do basic shyt. It kills me because being reality, you had to be pretty darn good to get into tech as a woman 30 some odd years ago, so how have you slipped back into intern territory with your abilities? I had to double check I was muted after I said out loud how do you figure out how to put your panties on each morning :gucci:? I just need to hold on for a few more weeks for my vacation.

I don’t know anything about Canada, but I say go for it either way. I’m ready to leave too.
