How long he been paying in?
I don’t even know, I’m assuming for 25 years, he’s been retired for 10 years now, but still kept his 401K at his former employers management firm. I’m still in shock, my parents are millionaires, but still live in the hood and live modestly :russ:. Thank God for them.

Random AF but I've been watching skateboarding videos on YouTube and it has been inspiring for my completely unrelated professional life.

Rodney Mullen is one of the godfathers of street skateboarding but the dude legitimately is one of the smartest people I've listened to in a long time. He seems to be mildly autistic or something but extremely functional (albeit awkward more often than not) and it is just refreshing to see someone doing what they love, and drawing inspiration and ideas from seemingly unrelated fields. The guy quotes papers on quantum mechanics and peer reviewed physics papers to better understand gravity/inertia for his tricks or to leverage creativity in a more meaningful way and just has a way of eloquently answering the most mundane questions about skateboarding.

Additionally, there is this other skateboarder on YouTube that is not very eloquent and English is clearly not his first language, but he is a world class skater who records himself attempting tricks that only 1-2 people have done in the world. The part that is mesmerizing is that he gets every trick down by the end of each video, but his videos include all of his failed attempts and adjustments as he eventually gets closer and closer to completing a trick.

There is something inspiring about watching someone fail over and over but know that they have what it takes to make something work.

The videos remind me to draw from plenty of sources in life and to just stay persistent with a confidence that eventually you will figure out any problem even if it is something that has stumped many before you.

Just joined toastmasters to improve my business speech (particularly around interviewing). My resume and experience is quite rich, but I've struggled verbally articulating my experience and I think that's been holding me back on my job search.

Anyway, got 3 phone interviews this week. Hopefully I can get another 3-4 next week to keep the juices flowing.

i remember i did toastmasters for my first ever internship...which then all the interns in the program had to go up on stage in front of hundreds of ppl to talk about our experiences...it really helped

I'm hoping the cohort I joined helps as well. It's more business focused than the other groups I've encountered (those are more for non-native speakers of English).

Keep us updated. I don't have a problem talking I'm front of people, but I think I've developed a small speech impediment over the past couple of years. Feels like I trip over my words too often.

This is what happens to me as well. It's quite shocking as speaking and communicating has/had/is one of my strongest suits. From a young age too. I was involved in plays/drama, I was called in class to read books, I read scripture at Church etc. But last couple years, that skillset has been blunted a bit, or perhaps I need to develop it for within the business/corporate world.
