There's a few jobs at Microsoft I'm targeting. They're not easy to stumble upon on a normal job search. I'm in the process of redoing my resume for them.2020 Goals? Financial, Career, etc.
Initially I was going to go with an entirely new look, but I was having trouble getting it to work properly, so I made some changes to my current one. I used to have "skill graphs" but they took up too much space, took noticeable time to render when scrolling, and I'd gotten the feedback "I don't know what this means" (yeah MF you do, you're just being a dikk). Swapped them out with some text boxes that list a bunch of skills. When I saved it as plain text, none of that stuff showed up so I tried doing it in a table. The table showed up in plain text, but I couldn't get a similar visual style. Wound up doing both: keep the text boxes and put the skills into a 1x1 table with no borders and the font set to hidden. That got the visual style and the plain text content. You could fukk around and hide a whole nother resume in there . Last thing to do is add the project I've been working on and check a couple of things against my work, and it's good to go.
I'm going to start blocking out an hour of my work day to study algorithms. Probably make it the last thing I do for the day.
I'd like to pay down 50% or more of my remaining student loan. That's dependent upon the bonus I get this year. I'm going to weigh that against paying down more of my car loan. I don't like the number that keeps staring back at me every month. I'm already 2 months ahead of schedule on it after like 5 or 6 months of paying it down, so that's a positive.
I need to make some lifestyle changes for my health. Thata going to take a concentrated effort because I always start strong and then peter out after a few weeks.
I need to take up a hobby or two that will get me out of the house. I'm stuck in a rut where I may not leave the house for 3, 4 days at a time sometimes. Gets pretty lonely
