i dont know a whole lot about how banks likes to work with his guys. i know steward liked to get the right hand at the chest, so that, ideally, it is always in a position to parry, and to shoot out the right hand real quick.I said it Saturday night he should hire Jonathan Banks to help with that
there is an interview where he talks about that, and a lot of other things you wont hear anybody else talking about, in detail.
an example of a fighter that keeps the right hand in that position would be sugar ray robinson. another example would be jimmy young. that shoots your right hand out quicker, so that, if youre working your jab, you never see it. the idea being that it hits you in an instant. you kind of slide it in quick off the jab, if i am making sense.
that is the emanuel steward right hand. if you get a chance, watch those videos. he talks about a lot of stuff you will not hear anybody say anymore. one of the things he used to say a lot was that, theres no more knockouts today, and he said its because guys wont follow through anymore. he said its because everybody is hitting pads and the trainers wont let them follow through. they reach out and tap your hand down. so everybody looks real good on the pads but nobody can punch. he is right about that and a lot of other things.
