or or or you couldve just dropped a better album instead of getting creatively complacent and phoning it in thinking your grodt hype was gonna continue to carry u :pacspit:

also kanye had 2 platinum albums before graduation, it wouldnt have been marketed as a heavyweight sales battle if he wasnt already broken in :dahell:

Sabrina baby boy was probably the original vision for his album

Jadakiss was right.

"Took ya 9 shots to be rich!"

Kanye legitimately changed how the black youth of Gen Y to go to college and the basic outlook of life beyond the streets. He, and even Jim Jones, deaded baggy clothes altogether. Kanye at that point was the savior of Hip Hop and leading it to the new era, while 50 was the last of the old guard of the Crack Era. Jay Z moved on, people like DMX was almost forgotten by then, superthug NY mixtape rappers been faded away. Curtis set himself for failure with 4 out of those 6 singles off that album being duds and ruining his album budget.
That may be a true but 50 got a big dikk, breh and @SpacelySprockets can attest to that

Im guessing 50 is trying to imply that graduation turned kanye into a superstar. He was famous, but that album is kind of the "definitive" one, with his talent/capacity firing on all cylinders at that point.

With that said, curtis was wack, and 50 saw that gimmick as a way to boost his own sales.

curtis was supposed to drop in may, after young buck dropped in march. buck flopped at the same time his first two singles for curtis failed to gain traction, and then the excuses started to roll. then they decided to drop june 26, wich also came and went, and was around this time that he pulled i get money and ayo technology out the hat.

with that said, both were average/decent singles. thats when they pushed to september, and the rest is history. even the singles that came after those, were wack. one with robin thicke, and ill still kill with akon, that in 2007 people was already kind of tired of his formulaic sound. the album had 4 or 5 decent joints out of 17

without kanye, i bet curtis would sell 300k to 400k at that point, and not the 700k that it ended up selling

most of what was supposed to be the original album ended up in that tape. and to be honest, its a better effort than what he ended up putting out on curtis

This dumb ass shyt here. :dead:

Kanye dumb c00n ass stayed talking negative about college. :dead:

His 3rd album was named "Graduation" while his mother was still alive. His mother was the one that kept him sane. Look at the statistics of college from 2004 to 2013.

And even then, Kanye didn't turn c00n until 2016 when Trump came in.

Kanye was ALWAYS a self hating c00n and ALWAYS talked down college. His album being named Graduation was based off his album before being College Dropout and a bigger shot at talking down college cause he was saying he was accomplished and in his mind moreso as a college drop out. :dead:

West already made 2 classic albums :mjlol:

G Unit was on the decline and 50 changed the name of his album after a Cam’ron diss record.

If anything 50 used Kanye to boost his own album sales.
Also, Late Registration sold 860,000 first week.

That's only 10,000 less than GRODT's first week even though GRODT sold more overall.

Gold Digger was damn near In Da Club popular when it first dropped. Both songs were overplayed like crazy.

The idea that Ye was still this backpack rapper before Graduation is a false one.

50, of course, had 03-05 at the palm of his hands but Ye was always a dark horse in that era as was Lil Wayne.

Yep.

I think 50 and his fans underrated Kanye at the time because 50 had 03-05 in the palm of his hands and Ye wasn't as dominant then even though CD and LR still sold well and Gold Digger was a huge hit.

All the bridges 50 burned after 2005 from beefing and rehashing the same formulas slowed G Unit down before Curtis even dropped though. Banks and Buck's 2nd albums both flopped.

I remember 50 trying to beef with Camron and TI for the Curtis rollout only for Camron to clown 50 mercilessly and TI to ignore him. The sales battle with Ye was a lifeline for him before falling off like Ja Rule.

Curtis was trash. Even BISD was better in hindsight. Curtis just had no direction whatsoever and he was just throwing darts to see what lands with a song trying to be Candy Shop(Amusement Park), a song trying to be In Da Club(I Get Money), a pop song riding the Timbo/JT wave(Ayo Technology), a song with one of Dre's cheapest sounding beats(Straight To The Bank), and another pop song riding Akon's wave(I Still Kill). It was 50's biggest wave riding album with zero artistry.

I know Kanye has fallen off musically too but at least Jesus Is King has soul to it. Curtis is just lifeless and would be Blood In My Eye status if it weren't for I Get Money.

Naw they both were 3 albums in at that point

I see how he’s tryna spin it where GRODT was his breakthrough and Kanye breakthrough wasn’t until Graduation but the reality is the public perception was that Kanye was getting better with every album and 50 was the opposite even though I think massacre was slept on

He’s trying to say if they went on tour together, he would’ve been viewed as the bigger closing act

Kanye was hot since College Dropout. 50 stopped being relevant musically around the time this sales battle happened

He's revising history to make himself seem better. The facts are he got as much money and accomplishment that took the rap legends 10 years in his 1st year. Unfortunately they had better catalogues
