4K TVs aren't ready yet

Upgrading to 4k for console is pointless. Only with PC gaming it makes sense, also there's like zero film content weather it be TV, movies, or otherwise. I'm not holding my breath for the broadcasters to upgrade their barely HD resolutions they have now.

Just bought a Sony 4K 3D tv & it's incredible. The model I bought does passive 3D & it's crazy. Threw on IRobot & was blown away. Next up is the Matrix movies, Bourne series & probably Interstellar just to see some of those space scenes or the water planet

No, it's just passing through.

Cable companies compress the quality as it is. If you were to get a digital antenna and get channels OTA it would look even better.

Same reason game companies like EA push out their titles before the end product is "bug free". For the most part though, I haven't heard that many major issues with it.
