you got the fans calling him gay, a p*ssy and stupid for being concerned with his health :mjcry:

I'm sure a lot of us have grown up with aspirations of sporting immortality. For the fortunate few that get there, it's a job. A job with real repercussions. If not for anything else, I'm quite impressed with this man. This is different from turning down a job because the travel commute was too far, he is walking away from millions. Literally millions. However, this question is different for everyone. What good is this money when all of your faculties aren't in order. I listen to ESPN Chicago nearly everyday for the Waddle and Silvy show on the way home. Waddle, as in Tom Waddle from the Bears, has shyt for brains memory and random pains. Of course, he's lived a great life from what football and success afterwards has afforded him, but you don't think he'd like to be able to turn back on the pages of time so that he didn't have to use so many smelling salts? These fans don't view sports in this light. They get millions to play a game!!!! Wah wah wah, you are just mad no one is posting up youtube videos of your dishwashing exploits. It's a job, one that they get paid handsomely for, but it comes with hazards and risks that most people will never have to face.

That's why I've always said fukk the fans, most of em aint shyt for real
You got dudes on the on forums saying shyt like 'damn what a p*ssy, fakkit wasting out on money. If it were me I'd keep on for a couple years ' :russ:

Judge the actions of NFL players worried about their health when you're just a :flabbynsick: Internet poster who probaby never played even in high school, brehs.

If I'm a GM I'm putting retirement clauses in the rookie contracts. If they retire before the contract ends, the team gets some of the signing bonus back.

Pretty sure it's already in there. With three years left, I'm pretty sure they're entitled to 3/4's of that money back.

I really hope he becomes a coach or something. If he stuck it out until his next contract then retired at 28 or 29 or something after getting millions, he'd be in such better shape moving forward.

I guess I respect the decision but I can't shake the part of me that thinks it was a punk move

Punk move :what: The guy wants to not be a vegetable by the age of 50 that's worth more then money

Props to see him for seeing the bigger picture! This is still surprising tho.

He must have dealt with some concussions and head injuries which were never spoken about.
