Also just look at how many films it influenced (some great ones too)

PTA had to pay homage on Boogie Nights.

Even Scorsese had to return to the source on Casino and Wolf of Wall Street

Without this film even the GOAT TV series The Sopranos doesn't exist

could u point these out to me cause i didnt peep

Basically GOODFELLAS is a masterclass in telling a story.

You have the protagonist of the story who has ambition, while coming from a poor/blue-collar background; this person WANTS more money/power/influence/etc. So they find their way in, building up their dream. However where Scorsese does so well, is he shows the flaws of people so clear as day.

So what happens is that after so much of this power comes to them, their flaws overtake self-control, and they not only fukk everything up, but their friends fukk everything up.

CASINO is basically more matured Goodfellas, as the mob had the WRONG people running stuff in Las Vegas; which ended up getting people killed, and eventually having the entire mob getting runned out of the city.

Wolf of Wall Street is the same concept, eventually everyone is too fukking stupid to stop the excess before it's too late.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Scorsese does that. In the Departed, anyone who dies is behind/next to an 'X'. It might be a homage to the Godfather where bad shyt happens when an Orange is involved.

And in The Irishman, the bridge that they go across has distinguishable X's on it right before Hoffa gets whacked.

Also, for those who don't know.

Tommy's Mother was Scorsese's Mom
The guy on the left, who doesn't kill Tommy, was Scorsese's Dad

One of the most satisfying death's ever, despite being a GREAT character. The only difference was that the real Tommy was way younger and even more batshyt insane. It's shocking yet deep down it was excellent, because Tommy had it coming for being a fukk up.

Jimmy Conway was De Niro's character.
Duh...I'm dumb
Everyone compares Menace II Society and Boyz N the Hood, but Menace was much closer in style to a Scorsese movie.

The Hughes brothers said Scorsese was a big influence on them. Just watch Goodfellas and then Menace. They both start out with a sudden act of violence, along with some narration. Henry talks about always wanting to be a gangster, Caine about how things were funny in the hood. Then they cut back to their childhoods and they show them as kids and their families.

The house party scene in Menace is similar to the restaurant scene when Henry introduces some of the wise guys. They both have tracking shots inside, with narration talking about different characters

I thought the second half of Menace was kind of like Mean Streets with its series of vignettes, giving a slice-of-life feel.

I know Scorsese was complimentary of the movie and the Hughes brothers.

Good call:ohhh: I can see that now
:snoop: Yall love to glorify and embrace Cac shyt.

Dap fishing at its worst:rudy:
