The simplest explanation is that it comes down to jobs, access to resources, and education.

Historically in communities with a higher concentrations of African Americans, there's a common theme of failing institutions( underfunded / overcrowded schools, limited access to medical services, and inadequate social services that don't properly address the needs of people in African American communities). A lot of programs and services are typically tied to taxes, but African Americans, historically are paid less, receive less call backs for equally qualified resumes, and suffer the most from unemployment.

One aspect of perpetual that is rarely considered, revolves around brain drain and the concept of black flight. This implies that the well to do blacks, or people who can afford to move, out of economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, do so. Far too often connections from more prosperous black Americans, aren't being passed down or shared communally to other African Americans at a disadvantage.

African Americans in the suburbs, have just as much responsibility for helping to fix issues in the hood, as the individuals caught in a perpetual cycle, associated with economically disadvantaged areas.

With that said, the largest blame still falls are city and state governments. I'll address this later.

I’ve seen cats go to suburbs with lots of resources and great institutions and turn them into ghettos. It’s a character and culture issue. Point blank period. As long as the media promotes black violence through hip hop and as long as the black family unit is all fukked up this will always be a thing. I’ll give poor ppl a pass for doing dirt as long as it’s just about money. Anything beyond that is a character issue. Show me a video of ppl doing shyt like this in East Los, Lynwood or South Gate

All you opinionated muthafukkas need to go outside and get a reality check. The questions i’ve seen in this thread suggest y’all don’t know shyt. And please stop with these long ass posts with all these bullshyt talking points you heard from some movie or some shyt. Y’all sound stupid as fukk and sheltered as fukk. This is a sad situation, but goddamn y’all some insufferable ass muthafukkas.
You know what’s even more insufferable? Not being able to live in communities full of your own people without being terrorized by people who look like you

Torrance is a white flight suburb. Hardly no black people live directly south of LAX, towards the coast.

@Rhakim thoughts on the situation

People right that alley is in Torrance but it's a hangout spot for brothers from all over the place. Those guys probably weren't even from Torrance (like people been saying there hardly any Black people in Torrance), they probably from Inglewood, Gardena, Compton. Some fools bowl there but there's also a bar in the back with really good drinks and unusually good food and a karoke machine, it's popular for big crowds to mess around on friday/saturday nights.

This is weird as hell for me man. Of all the places for there to be a shooting it was at fukking Gable House.

we are.

but after seeing what's going on now with the R Kelly situation and how an entire culture of behavior is being discussed and examined
anything can change if the discussion is presented in the proper way....I believe these 2 things are needed for shyt to really change:

1) having uncomfortable, necessary, and honest discussions without people getting emotional and calling people sellouts and agents
i'm talking about going to the root causes of this shyt, the music, the glorification of street culture, the respect and adulation that comes with that...
that's on us. the conditions are on them, the CULTURE surrounding it is on us

2) a spiritual awakening, a movement, and even though I am not religiously aligned with these brothers, I think they can bring about serious change:

Get some NOI/5%er/New Era brehs like you said to set up shop across this nation. Have these young boys get into combat sports like boxing,MMA during their free time. Get some blue collar brothas teach them some skills over the summer or breaks. Have these men teach these young boys conflict resolution, black nationalism, black manhood, self respect etc. I understand white supremacy is a bytch to overcome but there is things as men of the community we can do to stop this carnage. White supremacy is not Thanos. There is solutions we can do. The problem is alot of the liberal blacks folks are not down with the idea of black nationalism. They believe in the pie in the sky that is American integration. They are militant integrationist, captain American negros. They stand in the way because they believe that someway somehow white folks will stop being racist and we will have equal justice. If black nationalism was embraced in the black community shyt would get done. But the Federal govt cracked down on that shyt back in the 60s and 70s. And here we are two generations later.

If you scared, go to church...

I, along with millions of other black people, are scared of raising our children in environments that mimmick war zones which is why we either leave or plan on leaving. Which results in brain drain,a lot less black businesses, a less unified/self sufficient people, gentrification (because the black people who can buy property in these communities won’t) and more racial tension because many black people will be forced to rub elbows with other races more frequently. Not even to mention a real black economy/group economics are damn near impossible under these conditions

You and people like you are cancer

I have too but that's the exception not the norm.

You this in every culture though. There's white kids that are given everything in the world to succeed and they end up math and crack heads

Nah it’s becoming the norm now. Anywhere pretty much even remotely close to Chicago is seeing the quality of their area drop because cats from there leave the Chicago inner city and do the same shyt they did there.

Also you never answered my question if it’s just about poverty and lack of resources where’s all the videos of shyt like this happening in Lynwood, South Gate, HP, Pomona, San Pedro, Wilmington, etc?

Cats telling on themselves, the coli is softer than I thought. I live in the suburbs but I'm still in the "hood" regularly.

I dont want to hear no more peeps on here talking about LA, if you "too scared" to come to the hood.

Are you serious?
Are seriously trying play the oppression Olympics or some shyt? I hate when people make dumb comparisons like this trying to see who has it worse.

All those areas you listed are economically disadvantaged areas of LA, where bs can and does pop off at a moment's notice, regularly.

You really trying to insinuate that people aren't getting smoked over dumb shyt in south gate, Pomona, San Pedro.

When regarding the limited resources and educational attainment, there's a time limit. When people don't obtain an adequate education(high school), it doesn't just immediately affect or put them at a disadvantage. It affects a whole generation and their family. If all some people know is a certain way to live into adulthood it's much harder for them to change that element as they get older.

There's literally a whole host of problems that contribute to this dysfunction(from overcrowding of schools, racist teachers, overpolicing of schools, underfunded schools, limited transportation, etc.)

Usually when ppl get smoked in those areas it’s money/buisness related which I stated before I understand but even then the violence in those areas are nothing compared to other areas. Where are the videos of people in these areas acting like jackasses on camera, terrorizing civillians, destroying public and private property or killing innocent children? Where are the stories of fiestas and quincieras resulting in gunshots and murders? Where are they? Show me. If it’s just about poverty, show me people in these communities terrorizing innocent members of their own communities

I'll never come to an understanding of how a dude can pull a gun in the middle of a public space with 99.9% innocent citizens unless it's in self-defense from another gun.
9/10 his life is over, i.e. he'll call a white man daddy for the rest of his life or he'll kill someone that could've been his brother, mother or something.

I can't even blame gangs in general, which a virus in society, but it's a special type of imbecile. I know the coli loves the shyt, but I think that it's that macho culture not just the ptsd of people raised in that raw environment like I once thought. Where black men in general wanna be macho man and some of us to the degree where one would rather buck at women and kids than get caught looking puss or soft.
