Coming back from my friend's house and watching the fights. Some quick thoughts

Jan/Izzy - I knew Jan could be a real factor in the fight and anyone straight dismissing him was :francis:. It was a competitive fight the first 3 rds, with Jan taking the last 2 in the most dominant fashion. Izzy didn't look bad, just can't afford to be stuck on the bottom with the power of LHW's. If Whitaker beats Costa, I guess they could do that rematch at MW. Jan most likely fights Old man Glover.

Amanda/Meagan - Went about as expected. Once she felt the power of Amanda :francis:. Nice sub finish to put her out of her misery and baby celebration afterward . Meagan was really the only name :skip: at 145, so I expect she will be down at 135 for her next title defense.

Yan appeared to be on his way to victory before committing that illegal foul :snoop::why:.. I like the pressure that Aljo applied only on, but the power difference was with Yan, and his style of breaking opponents down over the course of the fight works well for him. Curious to see what adjustments both fighters make in what I assume will be an immediate rematch.

The Truth
I think izzy striking was a lot better...he just had zero power to actually KO him at that weight. Ironically for all this talk of polish power he ate all them shyts Jan threw and neither really hurt each other.
It was better but not “A LOT” to me... mainly because he got tagged a lot and being tagged a lot by a bigger guy that was supposed to be “slower” is not a good look to me.

Ultimately the takedowns did the most damage on the scorecards but striking wise, they were pretty even imo for atleast the first 2 rounds.

I feel like the power did affect the striking game for him but that’s what happens when you fight a bigger dude, he usually has more weight on his punches and can withstand more that what a lighter dude is used to distributing (at an elite level of course).

But you’re not wrong, Izzy looked like the better striker but if it’s not hurting homie and Izzy isn’t dominating the striking game, thats more of a negative for the lighter man.

But yeah, he ate all of the shyt Jan threw but it was obvious Jan threw the heavier shots. Jan was just smart and respected Izzys striking. It was back n forth for about 3 rounds

I just think Izzy needs to do what all the other real GOATs did. Just continue to fight any and everyone in your division and build both your skills and legacy up.

Him only having like 6 fights, the a title and then 2 defenses. His head got a little too big.

Like if you have less than 5 defenses, guys are getting too cocky on some “I’m the greatest in my division, there is NO ONE LEFT TO FIGHT” shyt.

Maybe that shyt was cool to play in the earliest years of UFC (pre Jon, GSP and Silva)

When cats like Forest, Rampage, and etc was champs and defending the belt like 2-3 times before the lost it.

But I think now, you need to hold on to that belt a little bit longer.

2 defenses just ain’t enough
Ever since Conor did it, it's become the in thing for a lot of these UFC fighters to have that "champ-champ" status

Adesanya saw an opportunity open with Jan, and tried to take the belt thinking he could just run through him, and like other posters in this thread said, he didn't even put on the weight correctly he just showed up, it was a lot of overconfidence on his part. I think this will be a good loss for him and humble him in some ways

It's almost eerily similar to Max Holloway, Dana wouldn't STFU about how "big" Max was and that he would be great at 155, and then when he moved up Dustin beat him soundly

too bad Jones wouldn’t give Jan a fight. Jon may go up and accomplish at heavyweight what Israel got done tonight at light heavyweight.

but Jan having been on this tear is the underdog every time because like he said he is hard to believe in. Lumbering and dumb seeming. But I do see a next level confidence in him. Who knows how many bets Jan washed of Dana’s, with his dumb ass meat head fight opinion.

imo Jan becomes the one to finally contain Glover 2.5 while Jiri P rebooks with Reyes or goes straight to Rakic, on his way to Jan.

Na.... it was good timing for Jon to move up.

Dude legit had FIFTEENTH TITLE DEFENSES

That is the true definition of “cleaning your division out” and then when you add on the guys in his division he fought to get the belt:wow:

His run becomes unprecedented.

Everyone that are champs now how to match that to even one day compare to sit at the same table as him

Breh.... no he has not

He's only have like 9 fights in the UFC (6 Non title, 1 where he won the title, 2 defenses)

And only like 6 are in the top 15:stopitslime:

Clearing a division to me is what like Anderson (17 fights, 15 defenses) and Jon (22 fights in his division, 15 defenses) used to do

Also, Izzy aint never face no MONSTERS like what Jon faced
He faced the best in his division (Whitaker, Romero, Costa, Gastelum, Silva) and that's all that matters, quit that BS monster talk

If we being real..... we really don’t know if he was on roids every fight he been in or just 2. We can assume to hate on him.... but we’ll truly never know one way or another.

I still honestly think it never mattered one way or another thought and I don’t believe he intentionally did anything the 2nd time.... which I could’ve sworn they redacted and now cleared him from.

I also think to a degree he just got more on his Floyd shyt and started to fight smarter. Nicca saying he lost speed, but Jones was never like on some Mini Mouse Demetris shyt.

He always had this rhythm and great timed precision shyt and capitalized with his great range and defensive wrestling.

He was never like “the fastest” in his division. Rua, Evans, Machida, and Belfort were all built as faster fighters and faster than him.

He tested positive for an illegal estrogen blocker commonly used to avoid the side effects of steroid cycles, he hid under a cage to avoid the NSAC from testing him, and he had EXTREMELY low endogenous testosterone to epitestosterone ratios when he was randomly tested (indicative of immense exogenous testosterone abuse). He's a roider breh, he just is. Do you really think with his personality he wouldn't take PED's if he could get away with it :mjlol:?

He's not winning like Floyd, who became "boring" and conservative but still won lopsided decisions, he's getting razor thin split decision wins over journeymen. Santos had one leg and still gave Jones a ton of trouble. He's clearly lost a step, and I personally attribute that to a mixture of a lack of roids, alcohol/drug abuse taking its toll and wear and tear from being a ten year fight vet.

Re: main event

Izzy dared to be great but seemingly didn't respect the craft in this instance. Thought he could just walk in there at that weight and win off pure talent/dexterity.

In the post-fight interview, he mentioned leg fatigue in the 5th round but wasn't sure why. Well that probably comes from having your leg kicks checked by a guy 30 lbs heavier than you and then spending the final 3+ minutes of round 4 hopelessly trying to scramble off your back as 230lbs weighs on you.

I get the impression Izzy/Dana/UFC considered Jan to be Costas 2.0 and hoped Izzy could just win without committing to the weight class... so he could then return to middle weight if need be while holding the LHW belt (and division) hostage in hopes of luring Jones back for a super fight.

Now he's going back to middle weight, which kinda just confirms to me he wasn't fully committed to LHW to begin with.

I thought Adesenya won the first 3 and no way are the 4th and 5th rounds 10-8s.

seems like the ufc dont want another double champ and i dont blame them it holds up divisions.

Spoken somebody who knows nothing about sports

did you buy this UFC event yes or no

Jake Paul KO against nate Robinson was a bigger event than any of these UFCS and made more headlines lmao

more people watched old ass Tyson and Roy Jones than any of these UFC events the pass two years

Those mma cacs on some :mjpls: shyt. If ufc was doing so great they would be paying these fighters a hell of a lot more. Mind you boxers/mma fighters been sharing gyms for a while now so its usually not the fighters on that bs they usually are fans of each other. The gym i go to is black owned and have yet to hear any of the :mjpls: shyt i be seeing online over there.

Honestly the :mjpls: factor of the fanbase has turned me off to the sport, despite having dudes at my gym that fight pro i have no interest in watching the shyt. I peep the big joints if nothing else is on but yeah i took a trip to those sherdog boards and reaslized this will be the only place i talk boxing and mma on a casual level.

Training muay thai is a lot of fun though and my son is a state level wrestler so i can appreciate good/high level grappling but yeah shyt is damn near nascar status w the :mjpls: takes :picard:
