That would set a dangerous precedent. Sure I’m prejudging, but I can tell they either had parents (or a parent) who never gave a fukk what they were doing. However, what about those parents who actually do work and try, but their kids are keeping their outside life a secret and the parents never suspected a thing?
Yeah those parents aren't as involved as you're claiming if a kid can keep a lifestyle of violent criminality a secret from them. Lock them up too. Them folks in your hypothetical must have zero contact with anyone in their child's life to not know. They must have never talked with no teachers, don't know who their kid's best friends are, never talked with anyone in the neighborhood, never enrolled their kid in any extra curricular activities and talked to the adults in those activities about their kid and can't see their kid's social media.

A lot of kids do things that their parents are unaware of. What if the kid didn’t even have a history, and this was their first time getting involved in something. Lock the parents up? These kids are responsible for their own actions.
