this movie seems forced from the trailers. i had no clue what to expect from 21 jump street and just threw it on one day while getting my hair braided, and was unexpectedly entertained, as it seems most people were - the movie caught people off guard by actually being funny. this one seems like they're trying to recapture that magic, and like the tragedy that was parts 2 & 3 of the hangover, this one has potential fail written all over it.

7/10. Not as consistently funny as the first and the jokes were hit and miss, but when it's funny it's REALLY funny.

funniest parts:

Schmidt and Jenko trying to be Vatos

Schmidt trying to show how sympathetic he is towards black folks

every scene where the big girl points out how old Schmidt is

Jenko's reaction when he finds out Schmidt fukked Ice Cube's daughter

the black twins, just about every line they had

The "fight" between Schmidt and the big girl at the end

All the references to the fact that it was a sequel with an unnecessary budget

Ice Cube at the restaurant

all the "sequels" in the end credits

movie definitely :troll:the audience too

they have a big, expensive looking car chase at the beginning, then they start talking about how they lost their "budget" halfway through the movie, and the next car chase ends up being a cheap looking aerial shot

At the beginning Jenko talks about how he wants to be promoted to the secret service to protect the president(reference to Channing Tatum's movie White House Down, but Schmidt calls it a terrible idea

Queen Latifah saying she's "straight outta compton" during the lunch scene with Ice Cube right next to her

Loved every minute of it.

Just a lot of clever and genuinely funny jokes, along with the gross out physical gags as well.

A rare comedy sequel that works, maybe because it was meta to an absurd degree.

Plus the technical aspects were brilliant. Stuff you don't usually see in American comedies (the split screen for one off the top of my head)

Lord & Miller the gawds
