All I know from just real brief shyt, is that they're all younger, like early 20s, at least Reed, Sue and Ben are. Johnny is still the youngest and Sue's dad isn't a bum, he's a scientist. Reed has been gifted since he was a kid and Ben protects him from getting beat up in their neighborhood. Reed developed some sort of teleportation tech as a kid and was put into a child prodigy program in the Baxter Building and thats when he meets Sue, who's a young bioengineer and her dad, who's in charge of the program, along with Johnny and Doom. Reed tries to teleport an apple to the "N-zone" (negative zone), doom screws with his device and Johnny, Reed, Sue, Ben and Doom get transported there and when they come back, they all have powers.
As far as them basing it off of that, quiet as kept, most marvel movies are basing their stories and look off of the ultimate universe, even the actual Marvel/Disney movies because those are the more contemporary versions of the stories. Hawkeye's look is directly from Ultimate, along with Thor. They mix and match stuff more than people think. I think Fox is going for the ultimate thing here though in order to separate this from the original franchise
