The reason why the Democrats forced Biden to run is because they KNEW Sanders would win and wanted to kill the progressive movement before it started.
The people could have supported Bernie to help him win if they really wanted to do so even with the odds against him.
If Bernie was as popular as you say, then he should have beat Biden.
No different than the MAGAs helping Trump win even with other candidates.

Only 9 presidents have been older than Biden with one Jimmy Carter currently in hospice care at age 99.
Biden promised to run as a one term president but is using Trump as an excuse to go back on it. Honestly when he announced his VP wouldn’t be a White Man it was seen as that person would be basically groomed for the position at best and at worst if Biden died within the four years the next president. He hasn’t empowered Kamala enough so now if he goes down she goes down as well to the point Gavin Newsom is seen as next.
Being President isn’t going to stop death but I think it’s a legacy play at the end of the day and he wants to go out as President. It’s been 61 years since a President died in office. He wants to go out with the giant funeral with

After being Obama’s VP for eight years at his age of 74 he basically was retired with Hilary having the party with her. Beau died in 2015 so with the grief it was easier to not run even Obama told him to stand down but Hilary fukked up so in 2020 he gave it a shot at age 81.
Years ago in 1988 as he was on the operating table to get brain surgery he told the surgeons “One Day I’ll be President”.

Just because an old person doesn't speak with the same candance or have cognitive function as a younger person doesn't mean they're dying.
If Biden had health conditions such as diseases and illnesses then it'd be a different story.
There are plenty of old people out there who face the same similarities and are some of the healthiest individuals out here.
