Fam this aint true.

20 percent of black men went to Donnie. This is a five alarm fire. The party has issues everywhere.
I was warning about this because of the information environment online for years. You’re late to this.

The voters are dumb.

Bro these dumb and racist white folks dont care about the economy. It’s bigotry over everything else.

This reminds me of when some coal plant was getting shut down in Montana. Obama tried reskill them into coding and guess what. The cacs didn’t want it. Stop making excuses for cacs cac’ing
The GOP just got record minority support we cant chalk this all down to racism. And telling coal workers that you'll get them trained to code is the tone deaf shyt that got Dems to this spot. Great in theory; beyond goofy in execution

When I was 22, I worked in a shipyard, in the looming shadow of the 2008 Recession, and it was one of the most diverse workplaces I have seen or experienced, on a mostly blue collar level. I scrubbed toilets, I washed floors, I cleaned bathrooms, scraped the grime of ships hulls, did painting, welding, whatever. Lots of black, Mexican a few Filipino's. At least some people without papers. Very old school Italians, tradesman. Lots of felons. The white guys were mostly all felons. Sure there was racial and other tension, people ate in groups that weren't always racial, but sometimes were. But everyone worked together.

and I was thinking the last 2 years, that mostly all of them, the ones who who could vote, would vote Trump. All of them said racist and sexist shyt, in daily conversation, and almost all of them, myself included lost that job/career or watched it disappear over the 2009-2012 years.

@Scaaar

Our citizens are fukking retarded

I think its the symptoms of late stage capitalism. People just want more money to keep consuming. The only people who might have had less to eat are the very poor. When i drive around i see the restaurants packed. The bars packed. Starbucks line around the corner. I see cruise ship commercials on television. Stadiums of all sports packed with people. The very poor will suffer under trump as well but lets not act like everyone was suffering. We are a country of materialism. The whole world had inflation and we were actually recovering better than most but this is a instant gratification society we live in. The US is being destroyed but its not by the Dems or the Rep its by materialism. We are a spoiled rotten society where stuff and things matter most. No wonder the younger generation is struggling so badly. No hope for a better future only the hope to own more stuff and things and for more leisure activity....smh

What is the other dude’s argument? Racism/Prejudice is a factor. Among many others. But, some people on here are so dismissive of it for whatever reason. And points fingers at everyone else being so hang up on identity politics as if this country wasn’t built on it and people aren’t being crusaded against because of it. My cousin (both of us are black) is on social media right now condoning Trump’s acts because he supposedly will bring the Bible back into the school and kids will no longer be subjected to the LGBTQIA agenda. shyt’s comical. Ignorance is the #1 reason Trump one. People don’t fully know the ramifications of a Trump presidency. They think it will be uneventful to their lives like the 1st one.

And let’s not act like the consumption isn’t what keeps our economy afloat. Telling people they felt broke despite it preventing a recession, is beyond stupid.

Agreed but it has to be combated or we'll keep looping this result until we're destroyed

Hold everyone to that standard then.
Have you interacted with these people? I have connections to western PA. They don’t care when you try to educate them. This is why I truly believe the dems should just let the republicans govern.

I'm fine with this, it's time. 51 percent want him. That's enough for me.

I hate to sound elitist, but you cannot address the structural problems in electoral politics without talking about how uninformed and ignorant that most Americans are about their government. This is an argument I was having with @King Kreole a few days before the election.

How is it possible that working class Americans think that the GOP is the Party working towards their best interests?

  • This is not a defense of Democrats. All politicians are to some extent corrupt, and the Democratic Party has also been captured by corporate interests.

Looking at the last 90 years of governance (a period I would consider the modern period of the Presidency), outside of Eisenhower and Nixon, what have any Republican Presidents done to make the lives of everyday, working class Americans better? Keep in mind that Eisenhower and Nixon were heavily influenced by FDR and New Deal policies in the same way Obama and Clinton were influenced by Reagan-ite neo-liberal policies:

Social Security- Democratic President/Congress
NLRA- Major unionizing protection law- Democratic President/Congress
Medicare- Democratic President/Congress
Medicaid- Democratic President/Congress
Obamacare- Democratic President/Congress
OSHA (worker's safety)- Nixon, who never had a Republican Senate/House
EPA- Nixon, who never had a Republican Senate/House

Yes, NAFTA was signed by Bill Clinton, but if I'm remembering correctly, this was the brainchild of Reagan then HW, and voted for by more Republicans than Dems in Congress.

After the Nixon Presidency, what exactly have Republicans done to make the lives of working people better? (I'm asking this humbly, because maybe some of you know something I don't)

How can the modern day Republican Party possibly be perceived as the Party that's for the working class by anyone other than a numbskull? Why, because they don't say things like "LatinX" and they want to push trans people out of open society? :mindblown:

Because Dems also aided this by abandoning the working class.

The GOP now offer illusions of economic benefit and resentment to fill bellies. Dems have nothing to counter that, or refuse to counter it. This nation is broken and the only way to mend it is to get hyper local, imo.

But again, doesn't that go back to how ignorant and uninformed the American public is?

GOP is:
  • Anti-union
  • Doesn't support higher wages for workers (Some of them are quasi-liberterian and don't believe in a minimum wage at all)
  • Doesn't support paid family leave
  • Doesn't support worker based regulations (worker safety, etc.)
  • Doesn't tend to support more robust unemployment programs
  • Doesn't support a social safety net (so when employees are out of work, they are still provided some of the services they need through government programs)
  • Doesn't support public healthcare so that even when employees are laid off of work, they have still have access to these services.
I'm trying not to be elitist and forcing myself not to use the word "stupid", but in a country that was not ignorant and uninformed, how could that party possibly be construed as giving a rat's ass about the working class? What, vibes?
