To be quite honest, the frame will probably exit the chat before the 4.7 does; it's simple to work on and maintain yourself (just get an OEM water pump/timing belt).
Exactly. Previous to myself it was one owner lady with less than 8k per year driven. Only area rusty is the rear cross member bevauae of the factory spare. Held water up there.

One of the main reasons I am considering an aftermarket tire carrier is that many replace the rear cross member anyhow...kills two bird one stone.

It's due for timing at 180 and I'm also gonna do the cam guide gasket too while I'm in there. Although I got the iridiums with 50k life span might do those as well when the front is off

Yeah apparently it's bigger than the previous gen, like almost as big as the Sequoia :leon:

If it's still built in Japan, it's jumping to the top of my list :lupe:

It is I believe; the Tacoma and Tundra plants are at capacity, I think it's going to be built at Tahara in Japan on the same line as the GX550.

Man wait a minute. New gen and hybrid turbo engines. Bound to be a few recalls even tho Toyota is top of the line

The hybrid system in the trucks is used for more power not fuel economy, so in theory it *should* be reliable, assuming you don't mess around with the orange cables in the car. That turbo engine hasn't had a lot go wrong with it aside from water pumps leaking with high mileage(100k+):yeshrug:

It just won't be as cheap to fix and the used market guys hate that. The old 4.6 and 4.7 can be really worked on by a church lady if she watched youtube.

Toyota smart. Their top production lines are in Japan Tahara plant where they'll be doing the new 4runner still. That will naturally work kinks out for the Tacoma since they share a platform and many parts etc

To own or to lease? The BMW will be faster and probably handle better, but you definitely are not going off-road in that SUV, if you do, you're going to need a tow truck to pull you out.

How many people will go off road? OK, now how many black people?

Lexus will last longer but unfortunately no performance for those looking for it. Surprised Lexus don't use their V8 that's in the IS500 for a performance SUV.

BMW to own, yeah you don't know what the reliability of their V8 is like, but they've updated it like 3 times and people are complaining far less

More than you think tbh; and Lexus never has been about performance in their SUV's; the 5.7 they used to use in the LX wasn't stressed in the slightest. The Japanese are all about practicality for luxury for their US cars. In Japan, it's a different story (i.e the V12 Century).
