What big ass SUV is getting over 20 mpg that runs on gasoline in the city?
None and none that are worth their weight as a "utility" vehicle. We did a out 50 miles off road most in low range and still averaged 15...not bad if you ask me

Yeah,

This is a nice ass truck. People would really take this offroad? :picard:

  • First-ever Overtrail grade with standard 33-inch All-Terrain tires and 18-inch wheels
  • 3.4L twin-turbo V6 produces 349 horsepower; 479 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Hybrid powertrain to come later
  • Standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 and Lexus Interface with 14-inch multimedia touchscreen
  • Up to 8,000 lbs. towing capacity

We got a guy at the dealer I'm at that takes his GX460 off road; he's got a bigger skid plate, different bumper, larger tires, tow hooks on the front bumper, a winch on it, etc. He spends money when he breaks stuff on it too - we had to put a transmission in it because he busted the skid plate and the transmission pan off-roading :snoop:. It's in the shop now because he broke the rear A/C lines and all the refrigerant leaked out of the system. It's getting a rear block off kit for the A/C lines so the car will only have functioning front A/C and non-functional rear A/C. He doesn't care though; he seems to like the vehicle and says that off-roading is how he relieves stress from his job. :manny:

Edit: I think he blew out one of the KDSS shocks once too -- that's one of the main reasons why the GX's can go off-road in the first place.

Na you definitely do not want KDSS off-road. Most dudes replace the cylinder with 4runner sways...or leave em off

You can make it work -- didn't say it was smart, but there's ways to make it work. This guy makes a ton of money, I don't think he cares one way or another :manny:

Yea definitely can no doubt...idk where you're at but out west you encounter too many variables even on forest service roads to risk a catastrophe on the trail...less is better in certain situations but not for others I agree

Sounds crazy and it sounds like he doesn't know what he's doing or never brings a spotter with him.

Who am I to judge? He pays to have it fixed, apparently that's how he blows off steam :manny: . Funny thing is, it's a breh who makes $350k+ a year who's doing it:yeshrug:

That's cool and all but...I will say this...

Land cruisers deserve the solid front axel.

IFS on the GX is incredible but it ain't quite up to snuff with an SFA. rides better no doubt
