There is literally not a single good reason for the Dems to keep the filibuster in place.
Bipartisanship
Reaching across the aisle
Tradition

All of the Dems priorities can't get 60 votes.

Passing HR1 into law will level the playing field on voting rights and elections... ending political gerrymandering too. Forfifying the Voting Rights Act after it was gutted in 2013 is also a major priority.

If the Dems want to wield their power, this is the time to do it. Cause the last trifecta was 2009-2010 and we may not see a Dem trifecta until the 2030s or 2040s.

Exactly voting reforms should be a major priority because it at least blunt Republican minority rule. People are a bit too optimistic to think the GOP is dead. One thing Republicans are good at is wielding power, maintaining it, think in long term strategy and have a right media space to churn out false propaganda to rile up the base. The GOP are almost close to their ultimate goal of minority rule. They now have an iron fist on the courts and state legislatures. They run the majority of state legislatures which means ANOTHER decade of gerrymandering. Another decade of blatant voter suppression.
The Mother Jones article states by 2040 the GOP’s white minority will control 70% of the senate with 30% of the population while 70% of the population will only have 30% of the senate.
This all has not been done by accident this was purposely planned back in the 60s. So it’s premature to say the Rethuglican party is dead because Trump got rejected. They have the courts, still control the majority of state legislatures, gained more seats in the House and poised to win the Jouse in 2022.
The fault is on all of us. The DNC needs a better strategy to keep its base engaged but the fault is on democratic voters who tend to focus on the political Super Bowl which is presidential elections. They don’t pay too much attention to local or state politics. So that needs to change. We got rid of Trump which is a good thing but the war is far from being won. We cannot underestimate the GOP and rest on our laurels. If we do we will get a repeat of 2010.
