Draymond was making a difference out there.

He was literally the only player that was setting up good looks for everyone, which is telling, because even despite his lack of scoring, they couldn't score with any regularity when he was off the floor. He was getting stops on defense, running the break and setting up cats, and doing it in the halfcourt, hitting cutters and calling for off-ball screens to free players up. When he was on the bench all they did was just ISO it up.

I do think Draymond would be a perfect fit for this roster if they had true catch and shoot guys besides KD. Everyone else needs to dribble the damn ball before they do anything which makes what he does less effective

It’s interesting how much the change in officiating changes what USA players can do. Without illegal screens and jumping into defenders, while also respecting the rule of verticality, it allows the opponents to actually defend in international ball.

Sounds like these rules need to be incorporated into the NBA.

The staff and players are just too comfortable and casual about losing. There might be some questionable player selections but Pop didn’t instill a culture with the group. Coach K ran a military operation with Team USA, he made sure them boys knew what it meant to put on that jersey.

He also put together a balanced roster with passing guards, iso scorers and made sure the big guys understood their roles. Instead they were more focused on getting tokens like Kevin Love out there

Colangelo turning experienced international players like Melo away should've been a sign that he didn't know he was doing. Hell, they should've known that old geezer didn't know what he was doing when he forced the Sixers to hire his loser son to be the GM. His son literally had to buy a team in Australia to get back into basketball after his burner account scandal. The Colangelos shouldn't near any basketball team ever again

The US is still the best basketball nation on earth and will always be, as long as we are the current version of this country, but that’s down to population and money. But the system we have is terrible and doesn’t want to face the truth that our fake amateurism is bad for youth development.

We need to professionalize youth development and get the best talents with the best coaches.

And we need to have the NBA change.
