Castro called him out on his cognitive decline on national tv during a debate. I don’t care if I’m losing it, I wouldn’t fukk with someone like that ever again. I don’t think Joe Biden is as petty as me tho. Do y’all really think Harris is the right call? I thought she was pretty disliked
he got that larry johnson he won’t remember that shyt

Sigh...I can't believe I have to say this, but with Biden being the nominee...

Democrats need to lose the 2020 Presidential election if they ever want to pass a single large piece of progressive legislation in the next 12 years.

Biden's presidency will be awful, for:
  • Left leaning Democrats and progressives in terms of policy (by his and his wife's own admission - he is fighting for the status quo and to defeat Trump, but that's it)
  • Moderate Democrats because of the perception that Biden is a horrible president WHEN and WHILE he is president - expect it and think ahead for a moment: his old age, dementia, gaffes, no change - a neoliberalism way worse than the WORST aspects of Obama or Hillary, etc.
If Biden becomes president, I think it guarantees that a Republican will win the Presidency in 2024. They won't have Trump tied around their necks anymore because the American people (especially Republicans) get political amnesia easily. Republicans have a great number of talented people in their 50s and 60s who are poised to run and win. They are very hungry and very smart. They will easily defeat Biden, who people will be very over at that point considering all of his weaknesses and age. The man can't even be trusted to run an incumbent campaign. And then, we will likely have a two-term Republican president until at least 2032.

this is a bullshyt ass post :dead: biden would be a 4 year placeholder to restore civility in this country, or at least as much of it as we can. thats all i expect of his presidency

and yeah, the republicans will be gearing up with 50 year olds. but so will the democrats :dahell: they can use those 4 years the exact same way

and you know what will happen in the next 5 years? the republican base will continue to shrink, to the point that the dems might take fukkin texas and republicans never win the presidency again

this would be the case no matter what dem was sitting, if they inherit a downturn, they get blamed. this doesn't work out any differently for bernie who'd also be a one term president and have republicans fired up to take the WH back. and bernie's platform needs a two termer int he first place, so outside of executive orders, i don't see the death of progressive legislation just because he doesn't win, he was going to need more time than he had anyway. this is a reset, people already giving up 2024 when we're not even to 2020

I'm saying Biden would do a worse job than others while being President considering his current state and his stance. If he was the Biden of 2010 I think we could weather this storm. But he has aged tremendously between 2016 and 2020.

And just to be clear, I wanted Bernie to be the nominee, but I wanted him to lose to Trump. That's a different post though...

You're optimistic. It could turn out that way, but I doubt it.

I don't think there is any such thing as a President placeholder. His administratiom will do things. Make big decisions in all the different categories an administration will. Economy, health, foreign policy. And the American people will debate it endlessly. Republicans will campaign daily against him the first second he becomes President, and he won't have the ability to stave it off because he isn't the same Biden. Perception will move against him, because perception is easy to change - the American people are susceptible to media propaganda.

I hope you are right about the republican base shrinking, but we thought that true before and we got Republican bullshyt from 2010 to now, 2020.

Essentially, I don't trust the American people to do the right thing in 2024...I follow way more conservatives and moderates than I do liberals or progressives. But I'm seeing Democrats settling for this...again (familiar story for black people, isn't it?)

Hope I'm wrong.

Let’s be reality

Biden has a bad record but I’m pretty sure if we had the Senate, he’d sign most of those bills the 2019-20 House passed into law.

And the courts..,

I wish he wanted to use executive power though. But he doesn’t want to wield power.
