Re: Malek. When the movie is mediocre at best (according to critics), you shouldn't be rewarded with a Best Actor win. Cooper probably goes back to doing comedies after getting shut out entirely.

Green Book made white people in Hollywood (at least through my anecdotal conversations) feel good. Me personally, I knew what it was as soon as I saw the trailer. I'm sure the performances were great, but yes, they took a book that was valuable to black Americans and made it about white people.

The Academy threw Spike's movie in multiple categories and shut out 2 other black films that deserved more recognition IMO.

That movie should not have been nominated for an Oscar, let alone win. At the time, the Academy had an agenda against
, so the film that everyone thought should win, "Brokeback Mountain", and the other movie about a were snubbed. The movie I thought should've won, "Munich" was world's better than Crash...which was nothing more than a race bait film. Cinderella Man was better than Crash and it didn't even get nominated.

It won't even about black filmmakers at this point though. I don't think Spike would have acted out if Roma or The Favourite won. Green Book winning is an insult to real films who didn't get props.
