Also why are we singling out Black Panther when it's clearly better than less deserving nominees like Green Book(This shyt looks like a gender reversed Driving Miss Daisy) Bohemian and Vice :mjpls:?

Thank you. Dap+rep.

:russell::russell::russell::russell::russell::russell::russell::russell::russell::russell:

This is the most shyttest year in movies.

How does Black Panther get nominated for Best Picture but no actor/actresses, director from the movie ?

I am never going to watch Green book because that looks like hot trash.

Did you know the character Marshala plays was a homosexual? I guess they wanted him to be all zesty and he was all like naw.

How the fukk does the cac from Blackkklansmen get nominated? :swaggyP: and not Denzel's son?

How the fukk did Hereditary not even get nominated?:mindblown: That was the best movie of the year imo.

I have no interest in seeing the Green Book, but seeing the trailers, it kind of seems like bullshyt that Viggo is nominated for Best Actor, and Ali is nominated for Best Supporting Actor? Isn't it a buddy movie? Ali is in the wrong category.

tchalla having to fight for the throne is my favorite aspect of the movie...he risked losing the throne and control of the wealthiest nation that ever existed...you caint name a character with more to lose...i seen blackkklansman and will probably check out the other ones but i doubt i will enjoy them as much as i enjoyed black panther...i felt like a kid watching black panther and i really didnt expect to like it as much as i did (went to see it twice)...im a plain ol ordinary black man that likes to watch movies and not a critic or expert but i like what i like...i dont give a fukk what a movie needs to have to be worthy of an oscar...

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I agree that Beale Street is leagues above Black Panther in some regards (cinematography, scores, and acting!), however, Black Panther is not a run of the mill anything. It is a really well made movie (except for the CGI), with excellent costuming, set designs, and storytelling. Just because something is popular and has been done before, doesn't mean it's not good or deserves accolades. I also think black folks don't have to choose between movies to root for. White people never do. They have the luxury of having below average, average, and above average movies to root for every year. Apparently we can only have 1 movie in each category, while white folks get to root for a variety of shytty and non shytty nominees. So while I'm really not cool with Beale Street being shut out, I'm not gonna shyt on Black Panther because of that since it's really a system that was never set up to reward black excellence in all of it's many forms.
But I'm not saying it's one or the other, as I said Beale Street is better than at least half the list of Best Picture nominees. But that snub, which to me is the biggest snub this year outside of the exclusion of Burning in the Foreign category, seems to get lost here in the excitement for Black Panther's nom. Outside of my personal opinion that Black Panther is only decent blockbuster fare and doesn't deserve shyt, people should be a lot more pissed that Beale Street was snubbed over the likes of Vice, Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star Is Born, Roma and Green Book (which I actually enjoyed even though it's the safe race pic of the season).
