Incredible thread.

I have to sit down and watch 2001 Space Odyessy. shyt looks like the ultimate marijuana movie were I can just zone out

I respect 2001 for what it is and the achievement in film making, but I've never connected to it and I guess that's because there are certain things that I'm drawn to in movies, specifically some sort of personality or strong characters or emotion (and I don't mean crying, tears or some love story per say) and it just doesn't have that. I guess it's too cold for me but I still recognize it for what it is

And I know that's one of the main issues I have with Interstellar is the coldness and how it fumbles the characters and the only real cat who seems to be good at pulling emotion is Matty Ice but he's always been good at that even when the script seems to not be

Yeah I started to watch a while back and never finished but it looked just like you described it here.I like to watch these critically acclaimed films so I can see what the big deal is. I like to be in the know :russ:

Yeah it's definitely worth a watch. Kubrick is one of the greats so soaking up his work is always a good ride but they're not going to be everyone's cup of tea. I'm not one of those film fans that feel like I HAVE to like or love something because everyone else does but I can respect and recognize its place in the culture. I don't like A Clockwork Orange but I still respect its place, it's just not for me:whoknows:

Thats how i feel with blade runner..movie looks incredible, the art direction and effects are ahead of its time bit the film does not draw me in. 2001 same thing and apocalypse now. those three flicks are a hard watch for me. i respect em but i dont have them on my favorite lists.

you hurt me marty, you hurt me soul (lupe fiasco voice) :mjcry:

:russ: my bad breh. I'm never going to knock the next man for the movies he loves (unless it's the box) so do you. The beauty of film is that we can have differences of opinion and discuss them maturely, I hear you, you hear me, and we're still homies at the end of it. I respect how you see it. There are reasons to like the movie in my eyes but there are more moments when it just didn't work for me.

Yeah, that moment I realized the rest of the movie was going to be weak as hell had me like :to: too.

See, now that's just foul :gladbron:
