I could see OU being rank at #3 after FSU and Oregon but #1 is too high and probably so is #3 but pubs and media(well, maybe ESPN will) won't rank OU below Bama or Auburn because of last season's ending.

Oregon lost there #1 WR in spring practice. Which means they have now lost 70% of there receiving yards from last year. Oregon probably should drop a bit. And probably below OU. 5 seems about right to start the year for Oregon. They have MSU week 2, we will see whats up with them then.

OU lost 100% of their rushing yds. and have 3 receiving TD's between the WR's already on our roster... Sterling Shepard has 2 and our FG holder has 1 from our in-state rivalry game from a fake.

All that plus a inconsistent QB that had one great game last season. Not very assuring.

That's why I wouldn't have had a problem with FSU, Oregon Auburn, Bama and Michigan State above us. #6 is about right.

Personally, I think there'll be a lot of dark-horse picks for the play-off because those teams are like one piece or phase of the game that they are close to correcting to be considered a contender. This season is gonna be wild. 4 playoff spots ain't enough...

That poll you posted is from football outsiders. Using some weird projection stats.

We wrapped up conference projections for each of the Big Five conferences last week, but it is now time to turn our attention to the national scene. The post-spring FEI projections are a function of five-year program ratings, returning starters, recruiting success and quarterback reliance -- statistical indicators of teams that may take a step forward or a step back next season, all of which figure prominently into the projection model.

For each team in the projected Top 25, we provide the team's projected regular-season and conference record and their opponent-adjusted offensive and defensive projection. We also identify each team's likelihood to position itself for a berth in the inaugural national championship playoff, and highlight the three toughest games on the schedule according to these projections. The likelihood of victory in each of those games is listed as well.

Here is the post-spring projection for college football's Top 25 teams:

Different poll then the Schlabach one posted above.

Did anyone notice what James Franklin is doing at Penn State? Tonight they beat out Ohio State for the commitments of two top 100 players and currently have the consensus #2 recruiting class in the nation. That is despite being in the middle of a 4 year bowl ban and massive scholarship reductions.

I have been saying for years that Penn State is a sleeping giant. They have been irrelevant for nearly twenty years primarily because Joe Paterno got old and stopped caring. But the state of Pennsylvania puts out some good talent and border states like New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia put out great talent and none of them have a dominant football program. With Frankin as their coach, I could see Penn State dominating the entire Eastern part of the country for recruits.

Penn State's recruiting has already had an effect on Ohio State. Franklin has beat out Urban Meyer for like five recruits so far. Right now OSU is stuck on just two recruits and Buckeye fans are starting to get worried.

That's kinda crazy. What are the in-state recruits doing though?

OU is the same way.... Our recruiting season is dead until bowl season and up to January.

OSU fans shouldn't worry. That slimeball Urban Meyer will make sure that they bring in top recruits.

James Franklin had two *4's committ in 2 hours today. :banderas:

We just had a 4* LB commit a few minutes ago.

This Franklin is putting on a show though. He's got as many 4*'s as Bama on 247's rankings. :wow: :ohlawd:
