I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
It was Spring Break 2001 and I was a Freshman in HS. I remember I was in the AOL WWF chat when all the buzz was going on and then one chatter said "Go to WWF.com right now!" and this was the splash page:

It was surreal. The Monday Night War had been over since 1999, but this was the final confirmed nail in the coffin. ECW was gone and now so was WCW. It was over and Vince had won.:wow:

EDIT - Here's the Wrestling Observer for anyone who wants to take a listen:

If bischoff really wanted it he coulda sued. The fact that it sold for 2.5 million, triggered no anti trust lawsuits from anyone civilian or government, and we know for a fact that they indeed colluded to create a monopoly.is testament of how irrelevant wrestling is to literally everyone not in it lol.

and then they botched the entire angle :mjlol:
Vince had no interest in spending the amount of money in buy-outs and time stroking egos it would've taken to make that the once in a lifetime angle it should've been. Imagine if Adam Silver had a chance to get MJ, Bron, Kobe, Magic, and Bird all on the same court for a Finals.

Instead he treated that shyt like his own personal victory lap :mjlol: Had Austin, Shane, and Perc Angle on team WCW :dead::dead:

Probably one of the biggest money blunders in history. Vince and co. lost millions of dollars and potentially years years worth of storylines over pettiness oand it only happened in about 5-6 months. I know some of the bigger names held out cause they r getting guaranteed money, but that doesn’t excuse the WWF themselves for making damn near every WCW guy look like second rate dirtbags.
WWE didn’t tell the whole story on those contracts. Vince had the option to buy the contracts off Time Warner but felt that what they were being paid wasnt worth it. If he had bought those contracts they would have been contractually obligated to appear on WWE television ASAP. They weren’t even long term contracts, almost all of them expired within the next 6 months.

Booker T opted out of his WCW contract to get beat up by Stone Cold every week for less money

Think about that, Vince threw all of that money into the XFL but wouldn’t pay Goldberg & Sting for 6 months to run the greatest angle of all time.
