Not sure why so much animosity towards older players. Did you guys play organized team sports of any kind?

If a team is serious about contending, having a vet who went through playoff situations and high pressure scenarios is a bonus for your team. Benefit from having him on the team.
You need talent to win, not an old man to yell at you while doing nothing to help.

I swear you all got the most "back in my day" views. Sounding like old and depressed cacs.

The vet would have to also still be one of the best players. Like if you put Jimmy Butler on that Grizzlies team that helps them.

But your salary cap gonna be so damn high*

You sure about that? How many players are willingly retiring? They’re getting pushed out for good reasons. They try to come back and never get a shot. Even a guy like Tony Snell is in the G league right now. IT tried to come back.

exactly no nba player is retiring early the money is too good :heh:

America's Darkside--210

This video captures how a lot of younger players lack fundamentals. Young dudes getting worked by a 43 year old Cuttino Mobley. Kobe and Pippen were laughing. RIP Kobe!

And yes the game has changed, but young dudes can still learn a lot from the vets especially pertaining to skills that are still extremely valuable in playoff basketball (eg mid-range, operating half court offense).

Yep. A lot of people confuse 3point shooting with skill level being up in the league. But when I watch games players can’t even deliver a pass in the post or get to the basket without several screens.

Vets also establish a standard in the locker room around work ethic and expectations.

It’s amazing how the coli says vet leadership is overrated when nba nikkas go on podcasts and say the opposite:dead:

yup
look at a guy like garrett temple, an average nba player whose avg over double digit once in his career, can barely shoot 40% doesn't really do anything great. But is still on a nba roster at 36

There's a gap between "good defender" and Marcus Smart.

Ridiculous like what you said here or shrinking Rubio to 6'0 in the first place?

Are we not gonna pretend that 17 year old Ricky Rubio was holding his own in the Olympics against the Redeem team with Prime CP3, Deron Williams, D Wade, and Kobe? Rubio was levels above Bobby Hurley.
