Nikka is you serious? Kobe got called a rapist, chased Shaq out of LA and had all sorts of hate throughout the 2000s. Lebron hate only got big during Miami. Since 2016 he has been called the GOAT and a top 3 player as much as he’s been criticized. Kobe never got that true love untill his retirement.LeBron has been the most scrutinized player in that period as well with detractors since high school.
Kobe while he got some shyt also had certain media members who dikkrode tf out of him and by that ‘08-‘10 stretch I don’t recall him getting much hate.
Kobe wasn’t hated as much as LeBron, especially LeBron in the Decision era. LeBron brought an irrational hatred that I didn’t see Kobe get.
Why do you say this? Are you just basing it off of history or are you saying he shouldn't even be in consideration based on other candidates this year? I see no reason he shouldn't be right in the mix as of now.39.5 Harden - right now better not get fukking MVP
His numbers are fluff built on pure popcorn.. It’s even worse now then ever...Why do you say this? Are you just basing it off of history or are you saying he shouldn't even be in consideration based on other candidates this year? I see no reason he shouldn't be right in the mix as of now.
Its a regular season award and his numbers are built for the regular season. He doesn't load manage and its led them to 5 of 6 seasons with at least 53+ wins. Might win 60 games this year. I don't understand how he could be discounted as a top-3 MVP candidateHis numbers are fluff built on pure popcorn.. It’s even worse now then ever...
He has the most hollow numbers in history...
Might win 60 games this year.
Why you gotta be that way, Blazers ain't never done anything to hurt nobody man.
Just for historical comparison, here are the top ten scoring seasons in NBA history.
50.4 Wilt - no MVP
44.8 Wilt - no MVP
39.5 Harden - right now better not get fukking MVP
38.4 Wilt - no MVP
37.6 Wilt - MVP
37.1 Jordan - no MVP
36.9 Wilt - no MVP
36.1 Harden - no MVP
35.6 Rick Barry - no MVP
35.4 Kobe - no MVP
Only ONE of the top ten scoring seasons in NBA history led to an MVP. Kobestans bytching about that as if it was some media bias are historically clueless. Wilt couldn't even pull an MVP averaging 50 and 26 on 51% shooting for a 49-win team that nearly made the Finals, and you think Kobe automatically deserves it going 35 and 5 on 45% shooting for a 45 win team that couldn't make it out of the first round?
There were few in the media who ever called him a rapist. That was more general public. You know, because he was literally indicted for rape and all that.Nikka is you serious? Kobe got called a rapist, chased Shaq out of LA and had all sorts of hate throughout the 2000s. Lebron hate only got big during Miami. Since 2016 he has been called the GOAT and a top 3 player as much as he’s been criticized. Kobe never got that true love untill his retirement.
Because it's pure usage. He's throwing up a shytload of shots and baiting the refs into an unbelievable number of foul calls. His numbers aren't even that impressive outside of an extremely high scoring total, and he gets that total not through efficiency but just by taking an incredible number of his team's shots. That ain't an MVP to me.Why do you say this? Are you just basing it off of history or are you saying he shouldn't even be in consideration based on other candidates this year? I see no reason he shouldn't be right in the mix as of now.
I don’t know either.
The famous adidas ABCD camp where Lenny Cooke challenged Kobe to a 1-on-1 and LeBron worked Lenny and passed him was in 2001. LeBron was a 16 year old high school junior meanwhile Kobe was pretty much a young veteran at that point with All-Star and titles under his belt. Those kids at that camp were looking up to Kobe which should tell you everything.
I think the Nike MVP Puppets commercial is really what started it with LeBron taking over the league in Kobe’s relative extended prime is what led to it.
Gotta take advantage of these teams on the backend of a B2B. Foot on the neck as soon as the ball is is tipped.
This is why I can’t with you nikkaslet me explain how this occurred. you are some what on to something witht he nike campaign. but they just played on what was already there. but lets start off by saying it had zero to do with bron or kobe.
because bron was a media creation. he was Espn's baby. they never had a chance to or were brave enough to follow a high school kid around like that. Kobe and KG were ballers, but they were not like bron fresh out. maybe kobe would've put up the numbers if he was on a bad team not sitting behind allstars. but bron was a mature team player who couldnt be stopped if he chose to score due to his size, strength, agility and handle with both hands. not that he was better than kobe. but he was more mature as a TEAM guy than most players because he was born as a team guy, thats who he is, kobe and most guys are born scorers that either have to learn how to move the ball well, or they do a good job of both. so lets move on from there.
so basically espn hitched themselves to the perfect wagon in bron. they said he was the truth, and he actually was.
remember nike still kept kobe under contract after the eagle, Co incident. but they kept pretty much all ad campaigns quiet when it came to him and his shoes for years after. until they felt the coast was clear to push him again (Kobe system...etc.)
this is during the change form #8 to #24. that was also about re-branding him post colorado. he wanted a fresh change, and so did nike and all his advertisers including the nba.
There's two things going on with the nba in regards to kobe. Think about this, kobe is a black guy, that was partially raised in Philly and Italy. He speaks 3 languages, italian, english, and spanish. America has a ton of spanish and obviously english speakers. the world has a TON of spanish and english speakers. why on earth would you not push kobe out there as the #1 ambassador of the nba? You should have. but they couldnt after the eagle, co incident.
In addition, because of what david stern learned about having only one mega star in jordan and only promoting that guy when he leaves/retires, your league will suffer for awhile. so the nba knew, never attach all of your horses to one wagon. so they had to get rid of Kobe quick. they were trying to bury him and say he was old before he was actually old. they were trying to give it to bron, and then they started trying to give it to curry and KD shortly after. They dont want any one player to hold that mega star status and only promote that person for fear when that person retires it will take years to replace him. so keep the thing moving and everyone will like the league in general . thats the idea.
So add it all up, the nba doesnt want to be stuck with one main guy, hence bron is better that kobe talk even when it wasnt true
the nba/nike doesnt want to promote eagle, co kobe ....lets push bron harder for now.
ESPN the main network, basically raised bron on the media side of things since high school. thats their baby. Bron is better than Kobe.
