If there is no title out of this, losing all those picks and players would hurt. They gave all that up so they can go in this or next year. It's a huge failure if they dont get it done.

Exactly. We made the trade now because bron is getting old. Otherwise we would've waited until FA. So that means we have to win this season. 2021 title could be a possiblity too but Bron will be better this season than he will next season. 2020 is our best shot for the Bron-AD duo to win.

....cat's in here still crying about some 2nd to 3rd rate players over A Davis?:russ:

No one is crying dude :gucci:

We're Lakers fans, so of course we're going to talk about our former young core

It's going to continue to be an ongoing discussion as to whether or not it was the right move, and if y'all don't like it, then gtfo :camby:

But on that note, I am kinda happy we made the deal :lolbron:

Pretty much. I don't know why Lebron stans are inserting themselves in this topic when they will only be invested as long as Lebron is around and then once he's gone they're gone. The question of whether it was worth it to give up the next decade of our future for a two year window is gonna be constantly assessed throughout this season.

That's retarded
Not really though. Theres is a huge benefit from keeping your young players you drafted. Teams like the KD warriors wouldnt exists otherwise. And now you're seeing teams like the Sixers capitalize off the same formula. Those teams had/have depth but were also top heavy and that is purely because they kept their young players and were able to go over the cap to sign them after adding legit pieces on the market. Let's say we didnt trade for AD but kept the young pieces. We could have signed him outright next offseason and then offered BI the max or whatever. So then you would have Bron, BI, AD, and then could go over the cap to re-sign kuzma, so, and hart then next season when bron would also be a FA. If Bron would be willing to take a pay cut, you could have room for another max or 2 b-tier players cause youd have about 60m in cap after denouncing everyone but AD and Ingram. So then you sign a guy like Oladipo or Blake Griffin along with Bron on a reduced salary. At that point, you could then go over the cap to resign Kuzma and Hart. Not to mention what ever lottery player we would have selected this summer. So we would financially be in the position to trot out a core like this

Lonzo/Garland
Oladipo/Hart
Ingram
Bron/Kuz
AD

That's the type of team build for sustainability throughout a decade on some spurs shyt. But it's only possible through keeping young talent. As it is now. We're pretty much gonna be stuck being a top heavy team relying on washed up vets and marquee signings in the future. If we manage to bring in a Giannis, all is forgiven. If we manage to win a chip this season, all is forgiven. But this alternate reality will always be on the back of my mind if we dont.

How is not achieving something that wasn't going to happen without the trade a failure?

I understand considering it a disappointment, but failure is extreme.
