Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
I've almost never seen a team be less succesful with a stretch 4 than a old school style 4. Even if you give up a little bit defensively, the spacing you get and the ability to take bigs out of the paint is invaluable. Obv,I'd take Al Jefferson over Steve Novak but I mean for the most part it always works.
I have a feeling someone will bring up Tristan Thompson but the Cavs were already killing with Love (36-7 last 43 games with LeBron) and there is no way they are actually better with Thompson, even if the D is slightly improved

Cavs are top 4 in threes made, and they often play Thompson at the 5 so that they can have 3 shooters on the floor.

These teams in the 90s NBA had 1 shooter :dead: and he'd make like 2 threes a game.

The Knicks took the Bulls to 7 games in 92......they made a grand total of 13 threes for the entire series.

This part of the forum is a little older than the other sections :flabbynsick:

A lot of us grew up on 90s ball, and a lot of people just can't accept that the game has evolved. In 30 years there will be a 7'3" shooting guard and dudes will be telling their grand kids Iverson was better.

There will never be a 7'3" Allen Iverson. and if it he wont be for long. human physiology doesn't change.

What else did it say:ld:? It just stressed that modern teams are >>> than 90's teams because of the new emphasis on 3 point shooting aka 3 point shooting>>>>>>> :manny:

Modern teams are better because of defense and shooting.

The lesson was learned in the Olympics, defend and hit the 3.

I dont know if hindsight is 20/20 or whatever but I'm surprised by how long it took teams to figure out how valuable stretch 4s are. If you have a good PG and a big guy that can make plays inside, all you have to so is put 3 shooters around them that can guard their position.
I promise you it is NOT a coincidence Robert Horry won all those chips

The next evolution in the position may be Karl Towns, post player with a 3 pointer that can also defend.

Also this was before the international explosion so the pool of players was much smaller. I give stern props, he really helped make bball more of a world wide sport. The training facilites and youth basketball programs overall have improved immensely since the 90s across the world.

You think players today are simply better shooters? I don't buy it their simply asked to concentrate on 3's more

Look at how many guys have come into the league recently who couldn't shoot in college then got to a nba team and whitin a few years are good at shooting the 3. A few years ago they never would be asked to do that it's philosophy not more skill

You honestly beleive if they asked the 90's players to concentrate on shooting 3's they couldn't be successful?

This is like implying that bigs today could be better at the post, I mean they could, but they aren't. The reality is that NBA players today are much better 3 point shooters, it's not really comparable considering they take more and shoot a higher percentage while doing it.

And the mid-range game today isn't dead, it's just migrated to the PF position, but that's another discussion for the "Players today suck!" bs.

The Rockets made 8 a game vs the Warriors.

The Warriors made 11.3 a game vs the Grizz.
