Unstable family structure thanks to crack and the lack of a true community after MLK's assassination. Just ask you elders what was the community like before crack hit, and they will tell you the same thing.

We sold our souls for appearing rich and no big mamma in the household anymore.

Threads like these always have to remind us that we can reach for them heights in class and in dignity.

Well, to be completely honest, the White owned corporations sent all the jobs overseas because Blacks, Latinos, and working-class Whites were making up labor unions and demanding a fair wage, leaving the Black men without jobs or working at McDonalds, or hustling in the streets, which got a ton of us killed.

shyts disappointing. These pics look just like the ones in my dads photo album growing up in the 50's and 60's. He grew up in the hood, but it was a much different "hood" Not the modern day type.

Looking at pictures of Black American life anytime before the 1970's is depressing as hell to look at.

Vietnam, introduction of drugs into our communities in numbers and at prices not seen before, end of the black power movement and the rise of gang warfare to control drug turf, for-profit prisons and union breaking as well as manufacturing jobs going overseas plus the rise of the Japanese auto manufacturers all had something to do with it. Take away a man's ability to earn a job and he will resort to crime to feed his family. Marginalize black students in school or pack mostly black public schools with unmotivated teachers and the students will perform poorly. Incarcerate black men at an extreme rate and you will leave a vacuum in the black community that gangs will fill. We were doing ok in the 40s and 50s even though we were poor.

To me it is obvious that integration backfired and that we need our own nation with our own CJ system and our own law enforcement protocols. White people are incapable of treating us like they treat their own and since they constitute the dominant society, things will never change. We need to do something else because what we have now is not working and it will not work. Whites are pushing back against latinos now and their conflicts will only get more violent as they become the dominant society through population growth.

How is that working out for the Native Americans with their own tribal justice systems?
