$15.00 an hour isn't a lot of money.

THUNDER BUDDIES
Salute, for doing the actual details. This part I'm curious about. Where do you live that has such inexpensive rent yet allows you to park 3 vehicles?

I CHERRY PICKED. I LIVE NEXT TO ROSEDALE PARK IN DETROIT. MOST OF THE HOUSES HERE RENT FOR 800-1000K. I MADE A DEAL WITH HER TO HELP HER FIX HER HOUSE UP. SHE BUYS MATERIALS AND I REPAIR THINGS IN HER HOUSE IN MY FREE TIME.

I INSULATED HER GARAGE AND HUNG DRYWALL. LOWERED THE CEILING IN THE BASEMENT TO HIDE THE PIPES AND SUCH. I TILED HER BASEMENT/KITCHEN/BATHROOM. I TOLD HER THAT WHAT I LEAVE SHE WILL GET $1100-1300 A MONTH FOR THE HOUSE. HER SON COMES OVER AND HELPS A LOT TOO. I PUT HER ON TO A PROGRAM TO UPGRADE HER HOUSE AND NOW I DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING. SOMETIMES SHE CALLS ME AT WORK AND ASKS IF SHE CAN HAVE A GUY COME BY ON THE WEEKEND TO DO SOME WORK AND SOMETHING ELSE GETS UPGRADED.

If you notice, all these dudes saying 15/hr is not enough aren’t detailing their situations.

They know if they did, they’d make 0 sense.

Cats in here single bachelors but have multiple baby mommas and paying child support for several kids screaming 31k a year won’t cut it :russ:
Or they have a different standard of living than you do.

Whats living to some is just surviving to others.

I don’t even live in a huge city, but around my way a $500 apartment is a guaranteed dump and not acceptable living conditions, but that’s clearly acceptable for some. :yeshrug:

It all depends on the person and their financial habits as well as the area. I would say that its definitely not enough in major cities. I don't know about everywhere else but here they require income of 3x the rent. And with rent costs going up and wages not, it's damn near impossible. Rent more expensive than a mortgage. That's how bad things are. I can afford to buy a place but not rent one.

OR..or - they know the govt is dipping in that Check whether they make 20k, 30k or 40k. That alters the whole “that ain’t enough money!” argument now doesn’t it. This is why they’re omitting this from their arguments.

And again, my apartment was 500 bc it was on a first year special, after that year it went back up to 530 or 540.

And we all live in different states and cities, if where you’re from 500 dollar a month apartments are dead smack in the ghetto then I don’t know what to tellya - but that damn sure wasn’t the case where I was :francis:

Government assistance. Under the right circumstances you can get your rent, utility bills, groceries, child care, health insurance, car note and insurance paid while working full-time. Ever heard of Section 8? I know cats paying $50/mo. for rent on a townhouse.

The point is what everyone considers an acceptable standard of living isn’t the same.

I don’t know why that’s so hard for some of y’all to understand.

Someone not thinking 15/hr is enough doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t mange money or have 3 baby mammas. It could just mean they have a different opinion on what constitutes living.

:patrice: This is might be too cold and cynical.

Just paid 487 dollars for car tabs in Seattle.

Light Rail Transit can eat an oversized piece of gorilla shiit cuz i don't take public transportation.

LOL!

Cost of living in seattle is crazy. Even tho minimum wage in 15 here... nobody can feasibly operate, exist and dwell in this town on such a wage.

Y'all want to get into dating? That's a whole nother story.
