$15.00 an hour isn't a lot of money.

My street i live on here in Los Angeles is one of a kind for black people, because majority of the houses are paid off and the homes are being passed down to family members who keep them up tight and also you don't have to go out and kill yourself working to pay rent. so $15 a hour isn't to bad because that money can be used just to pay you utilities each month and don't have to struggle to come up with $1300 a month

I'm starting to question how many of yall have actually made $15 in 2017.

C0aaCDX.jpg

Look at my average Take Home (biweekly) and tell me how I'm gonna pay $700 rent, $150 utilities, Car note + Insurance, groceries (easy $100 per week) and a student loan.

Not even going to bring up cable/internet, phone bill, wine and dine a GF etc.

Forget having any emergency or missing a day of work.

@Rarely-Wrong Liggins

The hell these people on man., I gotta dance with credit cards to pay off these certs :wow:

The red is where you  and the bold is where you gotta make sacrifices.

I know everyone needs a car, but a car note, if you can avoid it, should be avoided. 700 for rent is also a lot for 1 person, so maybe looking to cut that to 5-600 range, you may have to look into less than desirable areas of your city, possibly settle for a studio. Grocery shopping with thrift in mind (vegetables and raw meat to cook instead of processed foods), only the essentials and cooking more than going out. Cut cable all together, shyt is all online these days...streaming/netflicks/hulu etc. Internet, depending on speed, you can get for cheap. I get mine at 19.99/month but of course it will differ with location/service area.

Finally, look into refinancing loans with a private lender and read up on interest rates

....its tough, but doable.

$15 is way too much for people working at McDonald's and Wendy's......the service they provide is TRASH!!:francis:

Now people that work at Chick-fil-A should easily be making $15....:wow: they only hire strong workers with great attitude:sas2:

Australia minimum wage for fast food workers is 22 bucks. Just sayin... Oh and they hire just as many workers per capita.

It's almost like these companies will do whatever the government lets them get away with...:francis:

It doesn’t matter where you live, at $15 an hour you’re missing out on a lot as far quality of life goes. Healthcare and dental is pretty much out the window, few vacations, little disposable income, and it’s impossible to save. Do better.

To stay afloat you’re working minimum 40 hours a week and it’s all gone once bills hit you pretty much.

i know people in NC that work at wal mart and got they own apartment car etc..In LA that is impossible

I been livin on the east coast since college and it's wild but I have family down south that work retail and own a big ass house. Again, a lot of dudes on the coli only ever factor in city living. The truth is, it's pretty dumb to live in the city if you aren't wealthy. You are better off in the burbs and traveling to the city when you feel like it.

:jbhmm: No, you wrong on this one. That's what the Affordable Care Act is all about. If someone is making that they can probably get a pretty solid silver plan for health insurance and add dental.
Nah it’s possible, just uncomfortable. And I’m not familiar with the plans but I’d be surprised if it covered serious issues and long hospitalizations which could come up.

Do you have insurance through your employer? You probably could have saved money through the marketplace. If you had opted out of insurance your employer writes you a check and then get on a plan through the marketplace which is often a better plan and cheaper than a lot of employers are providing these days.

The numbers were for the average person. I'm driving a 99 Ford Taurus so no car note. Good luck finding a place under $700 in my area. Lowest around here is $675 (not including utilities) and that would give my commute an extra 1 hour +. Take away the car note, still paying insurance. Natural fed meat to last a week ends up around $40-50. Unless I'm eating beans, rice and broccoli every week, you will be hitting minimum $70 a week.

The point was that $15 an hour isn't a lot of money. It isn't. I would be barely making it, god forbid I have an emergency. Doable isn't living. That is struggling.

Trump is tearing through that shyt. Everyone's health benefits are going up 9.75% next year.

I pay $60 out my paycheck.

My deductible is $3500

Until I hit it, I gotta pay out of pocket.

Went to the allergist (under my plan) and the dude wasted my time and didn't help.

Got a bill for $550.

I got a sinus infection and went to pick up my prescription for antibiotics.

$175

Got the bill for the doctor visit.

$355:mjgrin:

I'm legit scared to get glasses now :hamster:

God speed fam :yeshrug:
