Only reason I could think of them not doing it is because it could make the tag titles irrelevant. I'm not sure if you could do both and keep interest in the traditional tag.

They do fine in Mexico and Japan breh like anything else in wrestling if the booking is right and the matches are good itll work. You can use them to set up tag and singles feuds too.
