Was this Bud's toughest fight at 147 so far?
I think it might have been, not by the margin many believed before the fight though, Benavidez gave him a pretty difficult fight too

"he wore that Marvin hagler shyt. Let him fight":deadmanny:

He's right :ehh:

Shawn had WAR on his trunks and his father stops the fight because he's not happy with the preparations smh.

Now, I dont want fighters to get hurt and going down on their shield. That machismo is meaningless to me. But Shawn was nowhere near round 11 Wilder status.

Porter wouldn't have won that fight because Bud had taken control but he could have finished it :francis:

you can stop the fight you don't need to shyt on me tho :why:

A day after seeing the post fight interview, here's my take on it

Porter's father was trying to save Shawn's ego. He saw his son get outclassed and ready to lose it mentally towards the end of the fight. So instead of saying "Damn my son had no chance against Terrance", he switched it up to say "He wasn't focused in camp, he knows he can do better"

Maybe he didn't wanna see his son get demolished and get stopped by the ref. He knew that would fukk up his confidence big time :manny:

Watch the sequence of events again and think as his trainer.

He was not finishing shyt. His only way inside was figured out and resulted in him getting dropped hard.

He was given a chance to recover but his resistance was gone. 1 minute 30 left in the round with 2 more to go.

It wasn't the sort of fight where both fighters were running on fumes. Porter had faded, whilst Crawford looked comfortable taking things up a gear.

One thing I don't think it is clear when watching boxing on TV is the condition fighters are in and how heavy some of the shots they take are.

shyt isn't as simple as saying "Let him go out on his shield". When a fighter is tired and no longer able to protect himself, the risk of them taking a life altering beating increases.

I know all that and I dont want fighters going out on their shield, I said so already, that has always been silly to me.

But your fighter wanted to honor Hagler and had WAR written on his trunks and on his gumshield and you're stopping it at the first sign of defeat ? What kind of war were they preparing for ?

Shawn wasnt getting pummeled from pillar to post. He was not defenseless, stiff or out of balance. He was tired yeah but at the very least, see through the round unless he clearly wants out or is in danger by not dishing back. He was frustrated and furious he got caught but he was still in it. His behavior after the call and during the interview confirm it.

What I'm complaining about is that the stoppage was early not that it shouldnt have happened ultimately. If there's a third KD, or that Shawn doesnt answer Bud's punches or he's compromised then definitely, stop the fight but that was not the case yet.

Agreed, although I think the problem is sadism.

Referees and trainers don't have the same goal as blood thirsty fans. They're not going to look at a fighter who finished and think "I want to see him sprawled out on his back" or "The memes are going to be great".

Their job is to consider the wellbeing of the fighter.

The A side? :heh:

Spence is a bigger name than Crawford who has been rotting away with Top Prank for the last 5 years. 60:40 is more than reasonable.

-Great fight.

-Porter did well. Some people saying he wasn't his usual aggressive self, but I think he still dictated the pace early and respected Bud's power later in the fight, which was why he kinda lost his groove. Great fight to end career on, no matter taking the L.

-Crawford so good at analyzing what is going on, switched southpaw when needed and was effective, stepped on the gas when the fight could be questionable and came out successful.

-Porter was lunging hard at the end with his dead down after throwing, you could see what was coming.

-Gave Porter more of the earlier rounds, had Crawford up a round going into round 10 and looking like he would snatch the rest of em. So had no problem with the stoppage, despite Porter looking alert and ready to go another knockdown.. If Porter was gaining momentum or looking like he could win the last rounds to argue for a decision I woulda been upset.

-His dad didn't give him any props in the interview, but Porter didn't argue it, and specifically in the post fight press conference he was okay with it, knowing he wanted to retire and his aim was to get out of boxing on the more healthy side. Not mad at his dad at all, and I'm sure behind closed doors he let him know he was hella proud of him, and his whole career.

-Crawford will beat Spence in my mind, thought that for awhile.

-Canelo still P4P king.

Nope

that drug cheat aint no damn king

Why?

Bud doesn't sell like Ej and EJ has two belts....................

Errol averages 300k a ppv

bad logic. 50 for Bud is a lot more than 60 against anyone else that would be in position to take it

shyt is about the biggest payday, not no dumb ego shyt

If Crawford goes to PBC, who gets to Ugas first? Crawford or Spence?

Either way, Ugas is no walk in the park for anybody.
